Vasudha Pinnamaraju, Executive Director of the McLean County Regional Planning Commission, made a presentation to the City Council last Monday. The Council is updating their Comprehensive Plan. The presentation was on existing conditions in the City of Bloomington. Some of the data used was from 2010, I doubt it is still valid, but there is a lot of interesting information in the presentation. You can see the slides she used here:

One of the slides has information the taxpayers of Bloomington need to see:
Note the $136 Million needed over the next 20 years. That is only for infrastructure. That’s not pensions and maintenance that has been deferred on City owned buildings and equipment. That’s 6.8 million a year the City doesn’t have.
Keep that in mind if you participate in the Bring It On survey of citizens. Many respondents want more stuff from government. Bloomington is becoming a less affordable place to live every time they give you more stuff.
Somebody has to pay for the stuff. It’s not the people wanting it, it’s everybody.
You just got 3 tax increases and flamingos. Watch what happens to your real estate taxes next year. I see no signs Renner, Hales, and the Council are working on what cuts can be made.

I hope many conservatives participate in the survey and volunteer to serve on the various committees. If we don’t get involved we have only ourselves to blame
