2 more Liquor Licenses on the Agenda Monday

By:  Diane Benjamin

When the David Hales and Tari Renner put an item on the Bloomington City Council agenda, they now state why it’s a good thing.

Here’s why new Liquor Licenses should be approved:

STRATEGIC PLAN LINK: Goal 4. Grow the local economy.

Motion: That a TAS liquor license for Around the Corner, Inc., d/b/a D R McKay’s Bar & Grill, located at 909 N. Hershey Rd. Unit 2, be created, contingent upon compliance with all applicable
health and safety codes

Motion: That a TAS liquor license for 602604, LLC, d/b/a, Pub America, located at 602 N. Main St., be created, contingent upon compliance with all applicable health and safety codes.

Now we know how the City creates economic activity, with alcohol.  The last 2 liquor licenses Renner wanted were denied by the Council.  Monday night we will find out what they think of these two.

The City will make another  $2,210  for each per year for the license.

  1. The city will also get 2% of the food and beverage sales and other assorted taxes and fees. Then if gaming machines are granted figure 5% of that revenue. As Dire Straits penned, “Money for nothing and chicks for free.”

  2. Maybe these bars won’t be “cash only” and the City will have half a chance of collecting the true amount of sales tax due.

  3. Let us remember Uncle Teri condemning all the bars as magnets for trouble. He and his potted plants approve the bars & the poor police have to baby sit them . Why approve more bars is they are only going to be a problem spot and Teri will sit there on his throne and bad mouth them.
