Tari’s Budget Task Force is going to report to the Council in September. The Council will then be told to vote YES on whatever is proposed, most don’t realize the effort was a setup and will gladly comply.
Other than raising the Sales Tax has to be approved by October 1 to take effect in January, why September?
The audited financial statements come out in October. Coliseum audited reports come out in October. Six months after the end of the Fiscal Year is standard procedure for government issuance of financial statements. (Another item that wouldn’t be tolerated in the private sector) The information needed by the Budget Task Force and the Council won’t even be available before they are told to vote.

I wonder what FY2015 will show. Before voting for more taxes, the Council should know! These numbers include all spending, even Enterprise funds like Solid Waste, Coliseum, and Golf are reflected in the total. In 2014, $5 million more was spent than in 2013. The 2015 number is essential to showing the direction of the City. Maybe that’s why the vote is in September.
Is actual spending a secret until it’s too late to change direction?
As far as I know, nobody has been able to get a line-item budget for this year. How can budget cuts be proposed without data? Any non-City employee accountants on the Budget Tax Force? (oops, Task)

What AMAZES me is how this gang of bureaucrats can ACT so unorganized and NOT overcome some SIMPLE budget cuts and get stuff DONE, yet so effectively execute their agenda on the citizens of Bloomington with military precision. Does ANYONE else wonder about this? WHO’S the puppeteer, and who’s the puppets.
Socialism/communism is the puppeteer, the American middle class (of which the potted plants, professor and david hales) are the puppets.
It is not an act, but a controlled performance–except when there is a screw-up like the pension padding or public comment fiascos. Hales has a specific plan and everything else doesn’t matter. Most discussions are rehearsed behind closed doors. The meetings are staged.
