Pantagraph covers for Tari again!

By:  Diane Benjamin

Friday the bird-cage liner did their weekly version of Cheers and Jeers.  Make sure you are sitting down.  Ready?

They CHEERED the Bloomington Budget Task Force!

Evidently they have changed the paper to the local comedy show.

Hey Editor – How about asking Tari Renner and David Hales why a group of un-elected and un-paid people were assembled for the sole purpose of raising taxes?  Doesn’t David Hales have the responsibility for the budget?  If he doesn’t, how about these two:

MURILLO CARLA BUDGET MANAGER – $81,956.60

TOMERLIN CHRISTOPHER BUDGET ANALYST – $70,421.83

Task Force:  Here’s some cuts for you, if these two did their job you wouldn’t have wasted your time.

I know investigative reporting to way beyond the BC-liner’s abilities, but you could ask what this guy does all day:

David Hales CITY MANAGER Total Compensation: $244,969.17

  1. IF we fired the above 3 unnecessary administrative employees, that would give us OVER $400K just RIGHT THERE!!! How much more WASTE are our local officials just not tending to? THINK ABOUT IT!

  2. So they have two “professionals” on staff yet still “need” a group of amateurs to recommend budget changes even though the budget summit overwhelmingly said to spend on needs not wants. What they need is somebody down there with a brain that can explain it to these nimrods, renner and hales the difference between the two. Seriously as has been said many times before and I will say it again fire hales. The man is surrounded by assistants and still can’t manage. Hales is incompetent, clean out your locker, pick up your last check and go!

      1. Will disagree with you here as this “trick” at Blm city hall has been around for quite sometime. It’s just more obvious but might seem new because renner and hales are worse managers than the previous crews.

      2. Ever since the MCRPC started their preparation for the Comprehensive Plan, “citizen input” has been a buzz word. Zoning changes will be upheld in court because of citizen input and an existing plan.

  3. I would say that we should investigate Hale’s past employment(s). What did he do, why did he leave. He could not be this bad by accident; I would say he has a track record of bad decisions and leaving cities in financial ruins. We need to find out where. If we can get some locations, I would certainly be willing to help dig up facts.

    1. Rumor has it he was recruited/recommended by the MCRPC because of his involvement with the International City Managers Association.

  4. The “citizen input” has been a sham for the beginning and remains so. Many citizens are aware of this fact but will the jury know? By the time more of this plan is implemented the possibility is very real that many jurors will know what a sham it has been. By then with some luck, jury nullification might just cancel the whole thing. Keep educating as the corruption runs rampant.
