It’s tragic that citizens don’t pay attention to local elections.
Matt Sorensen, under Federal indictment for wire fraud and the guy who cast the deciding vote to raise property taxes, got 48% of the vote and won in District 2.
Scott Murphy came in second with a great Write-in vote. Scott is a good guy and deserves to be on the November ballot if Sorensen is removed.
I came in third with no regrets. There are good people paying attention in District 2, it was wonderful meeting a lot of them.
Local taxing bodies can steal your money much faster than Federal and State governments. Evidently citizens won’t care until they are crushed.
I wonder if Blago can be re-elected when he gets out of prison? In Illinois, probably.
My wife’s co-worker left work last night saying, “I don’t know anything about the issues or who I’m going to vote for. I’m just going to fill in some ovals…”. I’m sure if she lives in district 2 she was one of the Sorenson voters.
Congratulations for a job well done. The people in District 2 know more about the political landscape now because of your campaign.

Diane, the average voter will not take time to write in a candidates name. Thanks for your effort! I’ll bet most don’t know Sorenson is a crook!!
Great job Diane. It is a shame people don’t think about anything except from the top down. They’re only interested in who the President will be.

The bird cage liner briefly had a story claiming his district wanted him to serve. Ditto their stupidity
How could they not know? Talk about ill-informed. Apparently media coverage in this area didn’t reach. How do they not know that their own County Board Rep, nigh the Chairman, is under federal indictment? Don’t they even talk amongst themselves as neighbors?? At church? At the gas station? Or was it meant to send a message, “Yes, we know he’s under federal indictment, but we, ‘Stand by our Man”” Will his defense team use this to bolster for his shit image? “Look, the people of McLean County still believe/favor him?”
