What Bloomington is paying Monday

By:  Diane Benjamin

The agenda for Monday’s meeting was posted on Thursday.  The agenda lists the total to be approved for payment in Bills and Payroll.  Somehow, even though the City knew what the list was, it wasn’t posted until after 4:30 Friday.  Anybody think they are hiding something?  See the list HERE

Actually a small payoff:

It must be a secret what this consultant is up to now.  Friedman is the downtown guy.

Why was a $200,000 check written to VenuWorks?

Economic Development:

The $28,405.40 includes SB Friedman above, a TIF attorney, and a bill from Farnsworth

The Convention and Visitors Bureau, Downtown Bloomington Association, and Economic Development Council are paid these amounts EVERY month.

B/N Advantage was left off the payment list this time – I have no idea why money is redistributed to various Townships.

Want to have some fun?

Search the document for how often the BCPA is mentioned.  (hint: MANY!)

Why is the City a member of the Chamber of Commerce?

I predict they will endorse Renner for re-election.

mon6Membership in the Illinois Municipal League gets renewed.

This is the organization that doesn’t file tax returns, but takes taxpayer money to lobby Springfield in favor of local government.  (That’s not you – it’s the folks spending your money)

mon7Anybody know what this audit was for?

No?  Me neither.  Add it to the list of unknown audits.

  2. I want to get a city contract for something. I need to get connected to this money train. I am sitting here and everyone else is cashing in. I can do audits or say Tari is my guy… The money train is leaving the station without me! Who do I need to talk to? Will it require a bribe? We will call it a late Christmas gift. Give me some backs to slap and some palms to grease… I am ready for a city contract today!
