Is this a case of credit card fraud/theft at Atlanta Public Library District?

(Guest writer)

Christine Thomas is the wife of the former treasurer, Bill Thomas, and the mother of the museum director, Rachel Neisler.  Mrs. Thomas apparently thinks it’s OK to purchase books from Amazon on her daughter’s library paid credit card.  The library’s PO Box is 568, but said books are sent to Rachel at PO Box 372.  Is that a home address?
.
It also appears that the Mrs. Neisler has no problem with her mother’s purchases.  She supplied a receipt to the library and charged the purchases to account “609” which is books.
.
A quick online search at the Atlanta Public Library District RSA Catalog showed “This search returned no results.” for both books.  Just to be thorough, a request at the library verified neither book was there on August 1st, 2018.
.
Mrs. Neisler has at least two other purchases to Amazon where she put the charge to books.  The FOIA officer (who is Mrs. Neisler, by the way) was unable to locate those receipts.  (FYI Mrs. Neisler, you are able to reprint Amazon receipts by changing the date in the filter!)
.
Why are the trustee’s turning a blind eye to these actions?  When will they start taking their fiduciary responsibilities seriously?  Maybe they should ask to see some receipts or verify some purchases.  How about taking away the charge card?  Will the board take any type of corrective action against the museum director?
.
Where do we sign up for a library credit card?  There are a couple of books we’d like to order, too.

  1. Go the fuck away! You don’t live here, tired of your shit stirring. The 3 “Atlantans” that want you.involve are chronic complainer and full of shit anyways! Sorry you could never be a real writer so you had to start you’re own bullshit joke. Thanks for taking away an attraction this town had, now it looks empty! GFYS!

  2. It’s okay no one really cares how much or how many times the Atlanta Public Library has money taken as long as it is all kept in the family. The term “Public” was lost long ago!

  3. Sounds like SOMEONE in Atlanta could maybe get some more GOOD use out of a book on ELOCUTION! Maybe THEY ought to peruse the Atlanta library.

  4. Hey GFYS! Back at you. Now that you have exposed you true level of intelligence and your philosophy on criminal activity! You obviously are ok if the rest of the Atlanta taxpayers who are tired of being lied to and stolen from just stop by your house and steel from you. oh and we want your credit cards SS# So we can apply for loans against you and your checkbook so we can spend your money on items we want and you are not allowed to ask any questions about our spending . Let’s give a round of applause in support of the citizens due diligence in this matter! I personal appreciate what they have done and am happy to donate any needed funds to support their work! Again back at you GFYS. You obviously live in a pig pen!

  5. It is amazing that the above story was able to “empty the town” and that the author of the less than intellectually challenged letter[?], comment[?], rant[?] is capable of observing such an effect. Another fine example of the high quality of intelligence the library board engenders as well as the type of attraction certain locals of Atlanta portray to the public. Yes, this type of person will definitely attract far more people to Atlanta than honest, hardworking ,decent, Christians, striving to maintain an honest and Constitutional government.

  6. That whole family sounds like they need a new wardrobe, Prison stripes would look good on all of them. Atlanta residents should be thankful someone is paying attention and taking the so called officials to task. Great job Diane.

  7. First an apology for GFYS fowl language, because he/she does not speak for the hard working, Bible believing Christians in the community! Whatever happened to Emily Post? Maybe he/she should take a tour of the Bible and read the Good Samaritan Parable for starters (Luke 10:25–37). Jesus tried to teach us that everyone is our neighbor & we should be there for those in need—-Thank You, Edgar County Watchdogs for being that neighbor. We, the Taxpayers, of the community are indebted to you for your tireless efforts to fight this case! We also thank you for your service to our country!!! Thank you, Diane, for your work and for posting this article & previous articles on the Atlanta Library. Let us pray that Truth prevails in this case!

  8. That first comment really gets to me.

Ignoring the language & lack of intelligent use of the English language, that someone would actually consider condoning the actions presented is outrageous. There was no conjecture. It is not “3 Atlantans” gossiping. Documentation was provided.

Honestly, if the APLD trustees had listened to the public a year ago, it would have ended. Their blatant, in-your-face, we-could-care-less-if-you-don’t-like-how-we-spend-your-tax-dollars attitude has continued this. They have forgotten that tax dollars are not a private “slush fund”.

I will probably scream if I hear one more time, “well they haven’t been charged with anything”. It’s not for lack of evidence, it’s been provided to the Logan County State’s Attorney. He refuses to get involved.

If the last resort is to continually bring to light the actions of the APLD board until the next election, so be it!

  9. Thank you D. Benjamin, the Edgar Co. Watchdogs and ALL of the informed and concerned Atlanta tax paying citizens who are standing up to and bringing attention to the “shady” and some times ILLEGAL activities of the current Atlanta Library board. Yes, the Logan Co. States Attorney refuses to act on evidence that has been given him. Concerned folks need to remember Mr. Wright’s name when next election comes around and actively campaign against him. For all the nay sayers, what part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand?
