I FOIA’d the City of Bloomington for awards given to Ty Carlton for the past 15 years. What I received isn’t the whole story.
From the Bloomington Police Facebook page where Ty is mentioned a lot, this isn’t mentioned in the FOIA:
This is what I received by FOIA, notice no details?
I also received TWO letters where the dates don’t match the above so I don’t know if they are connected or not. I received nothing on the 2022 Exemplary Performance Citation.
The LIFESAVING award isn’t mentioned in the FOIA. What else was left out?
Just so you know what kind of officer Carlton was, also from the City of Bloomington Police Facebook page:
Apparently the current police chief doesn’t want people of character, dedication, & hard work like Officer Carlton. That’s probably why they came after him. I wish there could be consequences. But there probably won’t be. Instead. they’d rather show Nowers posing with transvestites in downtown Bloomington.
Thank you for this article. He is a good man and a great officer. He led by example and his officers respected him (which many believe is the real reason he was fired). There’s so much more to this story…keep digging Diane!
Great addition. Those with good character tend to be the ones that rock the boat. Me thinks he saw something wrong and was making a correction in a way he saw fit.
Maybe he should look at, “whistleblower protection” legal status.
I’m sure his discipline history speak volumes as well.
