After spending the last six years in Bloomington, Tim Gleason is poised to return to his former role of Decatur City Manager.
Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe announced that the council intends on hiring Gleason during a news conference on Thursday.
Current City Manager, Scot Wrighton, announced his plans to retire last last year.
Gleason had the job in Decatur from 2015 to 2018, until he left for Bloomington. He said he chose Decatur despite an offer to stay in Bloomington and one to take the same position in Florence, Ariz.
As part of his compensation, Gleason would earn $230,000 annually plus six weeks of paid vacation per year. He will also get one year to establish permanent residency and $20,000 to put toward relocation expenses.

From past experience we all know how this will play out. Bloomington will hire a search firm to find gleason’s replacement. That search firm will be paid an insane amount of money (our tax dollars.) In the end they’ll end up appointing gleason’s #2 & give him a ridiculous salary. They never get tired of wasting our money.
No doubt the council will waste $ 100k+ on consultants only to end up hiring Jurgens when it is all said and done. Another pathetic waste of taxpayer dollars because the council has no confidence in their own judgement and abilities. Par for the course.
Well Bloomington continually gave him big raises year after year for doing such a great job? I haven’t seen any road improvements in that six years, I wonder what accomplishments he impressed them with.
Why did local media treat this all like when Lebron James left Cleveland for Miami? People come and people go. If he gets a better offer somewhere else, then good for him! It felt like the local stations were falling all over him trying to help him get a better offer from our taxpayer dollars.
Has anyone see any improvement in the 6 years he was here?

The only “improvement” I saw was in the size of my tax bill. This is a gift to the City of Bloomington to fix a bad situation.
Good riddance. He treated the Left like royalty while dismissing the productive among us as though we were, well, as if we were deplorables.
Why would any sane person pay that guy a $230,000 salary? What makes him so special to earn 2x or 3x what many others earn?

But Tim Gleason gets paid $230,000 to live in Decatur.
