These items will take a lot of time before Public Comment:

A few fun items that won’t be discussed unless an alderman pulls them from the Consent Agenda:

It looks like a grant will cover this cost. Solar and LED are fine if they stay on all night. It will be fun to see if the batteries lasts that long.

The Old Pantagraph Building will be getting occupants – alternative school.
This permit is to allow for the school in this district and at this address as part of the proposed
partnership between Lifelong Access, Chestnut Health Systems and the Regional Office of
Education to provide. coordinated, one-stop location for support services for young people. On
Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Zoning Board of Appeals held a public hearing, found the
request met all standards for approval, and voted 4-0-0 to recommend approval of the Special
Use Permit to the Council, as submitted, with no conditions.

Note: “may provide”.
Only 1 item on the Regular agenda:

The triple water rates over 3 years won’t be enough to cover the massive investment in the water system. Most people still don’t realize their water rates will go up another 3rd next year and the year after. Since government never reduces fees, they won’t be returning to last years rates after your contribution to “generational investment”.
The Owens Nursery property needs $15 million even though the Coliseum is still carrying debt of at least $20 million. By the time it gets paid off – with interest – it will cost a least twice what the original construction costs were. Maybe the Finance Department should present that before borrowing more.
It looks to me like whatever the consultant charges will just be rolled into the bond costs. Brilliant.
