WGLT made the best case for defunding NPR with this headline:

.
Obviously WGLT wanted to leave their readers with the impression not many people attended. Even ISU security estimated 1000 people at noon. Citizens don’t need public paid journalists, especially when facts are immaterial to their reporting. More crowd pictures here: https://blnnews.com/2025/04/08/charlie-kirk-at-isu/
After WGLT got hammered about the title on Facebook, I thought it would be corrected by this morning. It isn’t.
Next defund ISU. They continue to push DEI discrimination. The Trump administration needs to cut funding. Why?
An ISU history professor, Andrew Hartman, wrote this book: Karl Marx In America.
Reason number 2 for defunding NPR, WGLT failed to challenge the premise of the book.
Karl Marx wasn’t popular during his lifetime. Do a search for information. you will probably see this:

.
This professor is one reason why some students enter college as capitalists and graduate with anti-American views. FDR is often labeled a socialist by critics due to his New Deal policies. His four terms in office led to the 22nd Amendment, which limits presidents to two terms.
Which socialist or communist country are people fleeing to? Waiting . . waiting . . .waiting
When the Berlin Wall fell, which side did East Germans run to? Hint: It wasn’t East Germany, which had been ruled by the Soviet Union.
Your kids may be at risk at ISU with professors like this. You’re at risk if you rely on news from WGLT.
I’m sure your new Normal Township supervisor, Krystle Able, loves this professor, though.

.
Capitalism that isn’t hogtied by government (Illinois) is the fairest economy for everyone. It’s a negotiated exchange of goods and services. Capitalism doesn’t work when government interferes in that process. I could list many ways they do that, I’m sure you know Illinois hates business and people capable of making their own decisions.
The proof is a high unemployment rate and mass exodus. Of course this is over the head of this ISU professor and wGLT.

😂. “Hundreds” is technically correct but intentionally misleading.
I don’t get it, how is that misleading? They said it drew hundreds, it did. If they wanted to mislead, they could’ve just said “drew a crowd” without numbers. . .
They want to downplay the amount just like retailers do when they say 4.99 instead of 5.00 4.99 looks better.
100’s sounds smaller than a few thousand.
I know years ago current upper Management at WGLT said they just don’t see any examples of Media Bias even though it is widely claimed.
Well all they need to do now as well as years ago is look in the mirror.
The good thing is that now thousands of
ISU students know first hand that WGLT can not be trusted.
If you look at WGLT’s reporting of the Hands Off and the Kirk rally’s side by side, you can see their agenda and bias immediately. Meaning that they are not a news organization, to put it mildly. They are a political operation whose intention is to promote the anti-Trump, anti-conservative, anti-America, leftist’s agenda.
Comparisons:
Kirk rally – zero quotes from attendees or Charlie Kirk.
Hands Off – numerous quotes from attendees and speakers.
Kirk rally report – 5 paragraphs for the on-campus rally. Everything except the photos were done by google behind a computer. The reporters probably didn’t even attend.
Hands Off – 22 paragraphs for the off-campus Hands Off Rally
Kirk rally report – One sentence described the event (crowd size) and the rest was a negative characterization of Kirk and his organization.
Hands Off report – Beaming with pride for the attendees and their message.
And yet the crowd of mostly high-school and college aged students was packed in like sardines (literally) at the Kirk event. The crowd would have been twice the size if it hadn’t been walled in by gates and had a better sound system.
Vidette didn’t bother to do a story. Just posted.
I’m confused. The premise of the book is that Marx has been influential in American thought. You call people Marxists all the time, so wouldn’t you agree with that? “Influential” isn’t a compliment.
He’s pro Marx
