Think Your Health Insurance is Expensive?

By: Diane Benjamin

This morning I heard from a Country Companies retiree who received a notice for next year. Blue Cross insurance, just for her, will cost is $543 a month next year. If she wanted her husband covered too, the total cost is $1,969 a month.

She’s going with a plan for major medical coverage that is only $350 a month instead.

Everyone in good health should only have that coverage. Expecting coverage for every doctors visit is why insurance is so expensive and doctors charge so much. Cash visits should be cheaper, if you ask you will get a blank stare however.

Her husband did not work at CC. Both retired before turning 65 and moved south.

Any other retirees get their notice?

Meanwhile, illegals in Illinois get it for free. This was posted on Facebook, I’m betting Illinois is one of the 6 states:

  1. Which 6 states?

“Donald Trump for President”….seems to be an outdated name for a Facebook page

Lots of posts on that site to wade thru……

  2. Pritzger budgeted 600 million for free medical for illegal aliens ages 18 – 64
In 2025 it came in at 1.1 billion now he has the gall to want to raise taxes to cover a 120 million short fall on snap

  3. I haven’t looked yet to see what rates I’ll be paying next year under my employers plan. Open enrollment just started this week. I suspect a substantial increase.

My motto, work until you drop dead and stay away from Medicare and retirement insurance.

My mother had Health Alliance supplimental and I suspect Eureka Williams (Electolux) partially paid some of the premiums and she hardly ever paid much for a hospital stay and medical bills. Those days are long gone.

I read that the other day from Dr. Oz. No wonder my federal income taxes are so high plus add in the dead beats using SNAP. Fox News posted a map of showing the population percentage of those using SNAP. Illinois 14.8%.

I’m glad the DOJ appealed the judges ruling that they must fund SNAP. Good grief who do these judges think they are? Total judicial over reach in my opinon. SNAP is not a Constitutional right.

I feel people should have some healthcare but they have to pay for it and not for it to be free.

  4. I wonder. If it was possible to eliminate all fraud and waste in the government would there be enough money available to pay for all the leftist giveaways?

  5. Your reported CC retiree insurance cost is very similar to retiree costs at the OTHER insurer/ employer here where the retiree’s cost is also excessive and they no longer help pay the retiree’s spouse’s cost at all. But then I guess we are lucky since all recent/ new hires will receive NO health insurance at all when they retire. “Good neighbors” and that “family” feeling are things of the past…
