A Few More Things from Monday’s Meeting

By: Diane Benjamin

City Manager Jeff Jurgens has some comments at the end of the meeting – before they went into Executive Session to discuss buying property. Expect an agenda item soon so they can build another fire station. It won’t be in north east Bloomington. I’m just guessing here!

Jeff stated the entire bulk pickup was completed with only 1 hour of overtime and few complaints.

He also talked about a Lead Lines letter sent to some residents. Even though he stated you don’t have lead in your water I’d be getting an independent test. Trust but verify!

Jurgens also stated the water tower they are building somewhere by Prairie Vista came in under budget at $7.5 million instead of $10 million. Of course the excess was just redirected to other projects. How much do you think they wasted on the tower they built years ago and never used?

One year late, the ribbon cutting will be May 24th for the Water Park area residents can’t afford to use without subsidies. That’s brilliance.

FYI: I’ve been having fun with AI generated pics. This story has one, it took 3 attempts for AI to get it right.

Another FYI: I have lots of work to do outside all summer, so don’t expect many morning stories. I prefer cool morning to be outside!

Hit play to hear Jurgens:

  1. The only 2 fire station options should be:
the city owned property between Chestnut and Walnut
the long empty parcel on Empire across from the golf course
