Normal Il – The Visual Edition! Update

I drove by this lot today to see who is allowed to park there.  The part labeled 2 is mostly reserved for the Coffee House on Beaufort.  3 – I didn’t see how to access it, but I may have missed something.  This is NOT a straight parking lot where it is clear what you are suppose to do after entering.  Sections 1 and 4 have free 2 hour parking – EXCEPT on Tuesdays from 2pm – 7pm.  The reason is not posted, but a big sign is posted saying who towed your car if you violate the rules.

Also, the information below does not include the costs involved in removing whatever was here before the parking lot, or the costs of turning it into a parking lot.

The above picture is from Google Earth.  It is relatively recent since the roundabout is shown.   The picture below is from  the McLean County Assessor’s website – it shows the parcel numbers.

One interesting note:  In Bloomington, Main Street divides East and West.  In Normal it is Constitution Blvd -Trail.  I have no idea when it happened, but it was before 2006 from the information obtained under the Freedom of Information Act received from the Town of Normal – note the captions for College Ave.

This post will show you how much the parking lot on East College cost the citizens of Normal.

It looks like maybe 100 cars can park here, and note:  there are no city offices in the surrounding buildings, most of the buildings are privately owned.

See the property labeled – 1.  The FOIA listed a property at this location – 101 E. College, Parcel #14-28-435-028, purchased May 15, 2006 from Middleton Associates Inc for $930,000.

See the property labeled – 2.  On a previous post, I listed 4 properties purchased from One Main Development on August 13, 2008 for $500,000

See the property labeled – 3 above (2 labeled 3 below).  These 2  properties were purchased Nov. 11, 2006 from Jeffrey Tinervin and Mercer Turner (trustee) for $670,000.  #’s 14-28-435-025 & 14-28-435-026

See the property labeled – 4.  A property listed as 101 Railroad was purchased 5/20/03 for $55,500.  The parcel number however matches this property. #14-28-435-005

Grand Total:  $2,155,500

Considering the every citizen of Normal went from around $7 of debt to almost $1800 since 2002 (see previous posts), you have a right to know where the money went.  Wondering what all the other YELLOW is below?  Stay tuned – more analysis to come.
