The #1 global warming pooh-bah at the United Nations Organization has zero training in climatology. He is a professor of railroad engineering. He also taught economics.
He travels the world telling us about climate change. But he has a problem. There has been no increase in temperatures in over a decade.
Here is the Wikipedia entry. As it says, he was hired by the UN to be its spokesman on global warming in 2002. Problem: that was when the globe ceased warming.
Rajendra Kumar Pachauri (born 20 August 1940) has been serving as the chairperson of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 2002, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 during his tenure. He has also been the director general of TERI, a research and policy organization in India, and chancellor of TERI University; besides being the chairman of the governing council of the National Agro Foundation (NAF), as well as the chairman of the board of Columbia University’s International Research Institute for Climate and Society. Pachauri has been outspoken about climate change. He is now serving as the head of Yale‘s Climate and Energy Institute (YCEI).
Background
Pachauri was born in Nainital, India. He was educated at La Martiniere College in Lucknow and at the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Jamalpur, Bihar. He belongs to the Special Class Railway Apprentices, 1958 Batch, an elite scheme which heralded the beginning of mechanical engineering education in India. He began his career with the Indian Railways at the Diesel Locomotive Works in Varanasi. Pachauri was awarded an MS degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, in 1972, as well as a joint Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Economics in 1974. He lives in Golf Links, New Delhi.
In short, he is completely ill-equipped to be a spokesman for anything except government-owned railroads.
“Pardon me, boys. Is this the climate-changing choo-choo?”
He is now paid by the UN to railroad the voters into believing in global warming, which in turn will make them willing to accept the taxation of their manufacturing sector.
The voters are not buying it. A large chunk of the chattering class is buying it.
In short, he is a typical UN employee: high salary, no training, and no power.
