My petition, which is to Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, asks the following:

Your colleagues on both sides of the aisle in the Senate have spent months producing a bipartisan solution to our nation’s broken immigration system. And yet you voted to block discussion of the comprehensive immigration bill that provides a pathway to citizenship for 11 million aspiring Americans.

Senator Kirk, I am calling on you to stop these road-blocking tactics. Your vote to block debate on immigration in the Senate betrays the people who voted for you. I am not happy about that vote, and as your constituent, I demand you stop blocking debate on meaningful and historic immigration legislation that provides a viable pathway to citizenship whereby qualified immigrants can earn full rights and responsibilities.

On June 11, while 84 members of the Senate voted in favor of advancing immigration reform toward law, 15 members voted to delay justice for immigrant families separated by a long-broken system.

Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois was one of those 15 members of the Senate. He tried to stall efforts for much-needed immigration reform, despite representing a large immigrant population in Illinois.

Senator Kirk must be held accountable for letting down his constituents.
