Lethal Injections – for animals UPDATE

I’m getting lots of questions – mainly:  Is the County Board talking rate increases because lethal injection is really more expensive or are they just taking the opportunity for more revenue?  County Board?

A few months back the Pantagraph ran a bunch of Letters to the Editor about eliminating the use of gas on animals at the County Animal Shelter.  The writers wanted the County to switch to lethal injection.  The County “caved” to the outcry.

I seem to remember the organized letter campaign stating over and over that lethal injection was cheaper and more humane.  Today the Pantagraph is reporting the County is trying to figure out how to pay for the added cost. They are considering raising animal registration fees!  Gee, thanks animal people.

Lesson for the day:  organized letter writing campaigns do work if enough people write.  If people with opposing points of view don’t bother writing, government will believe only what they see.

Just wait until the primary election gets a little closer.  You will see letters wanting people to vote for Modified Wards.  Of course, many facts will be missing from the letters.  You will see letters wanting a 1% Sales Tax – “for the kids”.   Again, facts will be missing.

Sharpen your writing skills – registration fees are just the beginning of the pocket-picking by government.

  1. Diane, is there anything we can do to keep Judy Stearns, and Kevin Lower from being rooted off the City Council by the rubber stamp 7? ( everything Judy and Kevin vote against, the rubber stamp 7 vote for, and visa, versa, What happen to the” Code Of Conduct ” doesn’t it play a part in the behavior of rubber stamp 7 ?

    1. Letters to the Editor. The uninformed don’t have a clue what the Council does. If Judy decides to run again, she will need money. Whoever runs against her will be well financed.
