Snow removal too expensive?

by:  Diane Benjamin

I’ve heard the big snow removal in Bloomington may have cost $169,000.  Most people think that is the job of government: doing what people CAN’T do for themselves.  Out of a budget of at least $169 million, $169,000 can’t be found?  Cut a few of the studies recently approved, and there you have it.

Of course, that’s still less than David Hales get paid!

What about the money the City is getting from Homefield Energy?  Where is it going?  For those who don’t know, when the City took another stab at passing electric aggregation and finally got it done, they became entitled to a cut of the action.   That could easily cover snow removal.  Peoria is expecting $300,000-$400,000, so Bloomington should be getting at least $200,000.  http://blnnews.com/2012/12/18/aggregation-follow-the-money/

Maybe that explains the Homefield Energy banner hanging on the Coliseum!  Is it a gift of advertising from a grateful City, or is Homefield paying to hang it?  Why does Ameren (Homefield) need to advertise?  They got what they wanted!

Maybe Hales forgot to budget for “Global Warming”.
