Coliseum: 2 Managers with another job

By:  Diane Benjamin

The contract signed between CIAM (Central Illinois Arena Management) and the City of Bloomington state that ONE General Manger is required AND that person is not allowed to have any other job.  You probably know that clause has been broken for years.  Management Agreement CIAM

Here’s what the TWO Mangers do instead:

Rivermen co-owner Bart Rogers says the Peoria market is improving, but still has a ways to go in recovering from the scorched earth he inherited from the St. Louis Blues two years ago.

Without Rogers, John Butler, and the late Bruce Saurs, pro hockey in Peoria would have been dead in the spring of 2013. Rogers says he has not been contacted by any teams or individuals expressing interest in taking over the Peoria market for a higher-level league.

Negotiations on a new contract begin this year.  Can Hales, Renner, and the Council really be stupid enough to renew it with CIAM?

Where is the football team also required by the contract?

  1. Who else would want to manage the coliseum. It is a losing proposition and always was a losing proposition. I don’t know what the heck Markowitz was drinking when she pitched this P.O.S. but I want some.

  2. I must say…you must have a lot of time on your hands or must be able to multi-task or have no life to have two full time jobs…and get paid by the taxpayers with full benefits for one job….the second job (hockey) is gravy!! I hope they send the Mayor, City Manager and Council fruit baskets for Christmas.
