Bloomington: Your Boy Mayor strikes again

By:  Diane Benjamin

A little history of Tari’s childish behavior:

I’m sure I can find more examples.   During public comment Tari frequently responds to speech he doesn’t like, even after declaring he and the council don’t respond.

Tari isn’t happy Alderman Kevin Lower is holding a Townhall meeting on July 7th to give ALL citizens of Bloomington a voice.  It isn’t possible to have an honest discussion of the budget and taxes with Tari.  If you oppose a budget that doesn’t balance, Tari will attack you.  If you oppose his manic focus on redeveloping downtown, you will be attacked.  If you oppose tax increases because Tari refuses to consider budget cuts, you will be attacked.  If you want to speak to your elected representatives during Public Comment, Tari will change the rules so you can’t.

The results of spending more money than you take in is obvious in Illinois.  Tari still believes he can spend and tax you at will without consequences.  Renner wants your voice terminated.

Alderman Lower’s Townhall is at 7:00.  Tari’s sent the email below to his supporter(s).  Come and voice your opinion, Tari sure isn’t listening.  Alderman Lower will.

To: REDACTED

Hello everyone,
I would hope that you would all consider attending the forum on July 7th at 7pm at the Lafayette Club.
This is a forum sponsored by Ald. Kevin Lower to discuss city issues.
He advertised it as discussing the city’s “Budget Tax Force” rather than “Budget
Task Force.”
It is important that voices for progress and improvement are heard at this forum – and not just the voices
of NO and WE CAN’T.
I am out of the country so I’m asking for your help in my absence.
Good people must have their voices heard so that the extreme views
of a vocal and nasty minority do not prevail.
Thank you!
Take care!
Tari Renner

  1. Again, using IWU’s email to do city “business.” If I did that at ISU, I’d be fired. I know IWU is private, but this has to be some type policy against this.

      1. I am requesting a clarification of the policy. I will e-mail you directly with information should I receive it.

  2. Maybe he’ll lose his passport and be stuck in whatever other country he is in. They can have him. I will call it, my Vision 2015.

      1. Don’t accept any collect calls from him unless of course the possibility of his verbal confirmation of possible incarceration is something you would like to report. LoL! If you got a call like that you would know that his current employers refused bail and you were a last resort. One can wish!

  3. Has anyone ever thought of contacting the former Mrs. Renner? She is probably someone who suffered intense verbal, emotional, and perhaps psychological abuse, given her former husband’s track record of behaviors, particularly toward women. It might be very interesting and insightful!

  4. I travel internationally a LOT – I don’t think I like Tari being in other countries – I am sure he is one of the rude and often ignorant and haughty “ugly American” types that make it hard for the rest of us.

  5. Renner ends his note with, “Good people must have their voices heard so that the extreme views of a vocal and nasty minority do not prevail.” This guy never quits, lol, his time will come. Give ’em enough rope and they’ll hang themselves.

    1. He must believe that those who oppose him are very few in number. You know, the nasty and vocal ones. Tari, you are in for a rude awakening come the next election.

      1. Everyone who comments here should mass email their friends to invite them to Mr. Lower’s Town Hall Meeting.

    2. I just read that email from Mayor Professor Lawyer. My first impression, what an a__hole. “progress and improvement “, doesn’t this mean spend money?

    3. That “good people must have their voices heard” is typical cliche from his ilk which does translate to” those who agree with us are the only people worth considering, anyone who opposes us are nothing but a few fringe crazies” – I speak their language well, I lived among them for years and I mean RIGHT in their midst – and yes, progress and improvement always means tax the peasants more, especially those who have the audacity to work and own anything and it also means more control/power/money for the political elite

  6. Additional to the questionable legality of the Budget Task Force, at a Working Session (without a vote) it was decided that the Task Force develop a 3 year plan. When the Budget Task Force was originally formed, the Mayor assured everyone that the Council would be voting on the budget…that it would NOT be un-elected officials. However, just a few weeks ago at a Council meeting, the Mayor is caught on tape saying he will sign WHATEVER THE TASK FORCE PRESENTS without line item veto. The Task Force, fearing it may be wasting its time, has expressed concern regarding the political fortitude of the Council to accept the recommendations. I wonder if the out-of-the-country trip is to France to study Napoleon Bonaparte and the Palace at Versailles.

Furthermore, my voice represents the “average” citizen of Bloomington…neither a minority nor nasty.

  7. Shouldn’t Mayor Professor Lawyer be on the Dept. of Homeland Security list as a home grown economic terrorist?

  8. It’s very satisfying to know we “vocal and nasty” types live rent-free in Tari’s head.

    1. LOL it is indeed – but remember any dissent is nasty or sometimes it’s simply hate
