Watch one minute of the video below from Monday night. Start at 1:49.
Poor Tari, two kids in college. Yes, us parent who have PAID for college feel your pain.
But, Tari has no pain! His kids can attend IWU for free! Even support staff can now send their kids to IWU for free:
Last year, tuition benefits were extended to support staff for the first time. Their children who are accepted into IWU attend tuition-free, and there is also a tuition exchange program through the Council of Independent Colleges Consortium that allows children of employees to attend other institutions. http://digitalcommons.iwu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1184&context=iwumag Page 2.

We feel your pain Tari. Go have lunch today and charge the taxpayers. Call it a business lunch. Find the most expensive place in town though and make sure you drive the red vet.
No free lunch?
Taking your comedy show on the road?
Alderman Schmidt: Is your kid getting a free education too?

I thought he had a red mustang convertable.
Corvette. Unless he has more than one.
On WJBC, he mentioned he had more than one “mid life crisis” cars. He didn’t mention the make or model- just that they were two door models. The Vette was in the parking spot on Monday.
“There are NO free launches” He should make that his CAMPAIGN slogan! YEP, Tari that are NOT free! US taxpayers feed your face. And WHAT is wrong with firing 75 or 100 people?? EVERY major company in the WORLD has done it by the thousands at one point or another. There is so MUCH dead weight in Bloomington-from top down, that it eats us alive!
And which 75-100 people would you fire? Surely some in administration that Hales has bloated but outside of that I doubt that I can agree with that idea.
Usually, a guy who drives a red vet has earned it. This guy got it to make him feel taller. What a tool.
You could do and FOIA and see if his free lunch’s are being reported to the IRS. I wonder if he would be liable to pay taxes on the free tuition for minor children? If you can validate that he does in fact have tax liability, I’ll report his behind.
What an ass! To think his salary as Mayor should cover his property taxes is ludicrous! Whether it be !2K before taxes or 8K after taxes who cares? Hid Mayoral salary is not intended to cover his property taxes. To use that as an argument, shows how stupid this man really is! Yes, Townie is right. If he need’s to fire 100 people, then so be it. But like everything else, he exaggerates. It may be less. To bring back an old term many of us are grew weary of, Renner needs to “Right Size” the city workforce from the top down
He admitted he lives in a McMansion
It seems right that an employee’s child, if qualified, can attend college in spite of the modest wage that employee might be paid. Good for morale. Practically speaking though . . . what young adult wants to go to college where Mother or Father works. Depends on the YA and the Mother and Father, no doubt. But, it does make it harder to get by with shenanigans on either part. College campuses were the hotbed of adulterous affairs amongst staff back in the day. Hollywood made some movies along that vein in the late ’80’s, early ’90’s. Also, Hollywood in those days made many movies about student shenanigan’s which were fun, frothy tropes compared to today’s violence, death and gloom. Besides, college just isn’t “where it’s at” anymore, anyway. Tides have turned, times have changed, shit has shifted. Educational “institutions” . . . yikes, is it just me or do “institutions” seem to attract/bring out the worst in humanity? Glossy quarterlies (brag sheets) from their own presses fool only those like a family Christmas newsletter might. Ughh, I feel like my own comped education is being devalued by the day. As if the value of an education can be quantified anyway. The intrinsic value of a B.A. in Philosophy has yet to “sell” well. It’s probably cuz I didn’t learn to argue right.
P.S., Diane . . . there’s a little joke in that comment for you, too. Isn’t it the funnest to try to put “intrinsic value” “intangible value” or “goodwill” on a balance sheet? I’ll tell you what . . . I’m putting my current goodwill value at $3,000,000. CPA’s have some of the funnest stories of people and what they think their businesses are worth. Like, you’re supposed to put down some crazy bs that they can take to the bank to get a line of credit or loan based on their “assets.” A CPA really needs to CYA at all times, no?! LOL
I retired very soon after becoming a CPA. Tax season is a joke.
