I planned to do this story yesterday, but then the Matt Sorensen story sidetracked me all day. My readers are GREAT at giving me tips – this was one of them. The Pantagraph read is on my site, it still took them an hour to do a story.
Yesterday, the paper devoted an entire editorial to not knowing where Gov Rauner went on vacation.
The State doesn’t have a budget, tax refunds are going to be held up for months, millions of dollars of unpaid bills are piling up in Springfield, pensions are bankrupting taxpayers, and property taxes are driving people out of the State. Mitsubishi is dead because locating in Illinois would be a bad business decision. The list of Illinois disasters is almost endless.
The clowns calling themselves journalists wasted an entire editorial to “Where’s Rauner”.
The anonymous editorial writer once again ignores the local elected. Council members can be missing, the mayor can be missing, and not a peep is uttered by them – or any members present. The citizens who elected an alderman and mayor to represent their interests aren’t entitled to know why they are MIA?
Maybe it’s because anonymous and most of the elected don’t believe they are there to represent. The votes are predetermined, so missing one won’t matter. Anonymous must be fine with that.
Rauner takes a vacation and it’s a catastrophe, local elected officials don’t show up to their job and it’s no big deal. Brilliant!
I wonder if anonymous will demand Matt Sorensen resign? I wonder if anonymous even read the court documents, they are pretty devastating. Matt could be facing 20 years in prison on each count, but he’s capable of spending taxpayer money wisely? This one isn’t going to be as easy to bury as Renner’s rant. I wonder if anonymous will call for an end to all consultants hired by government? How do we know taxpayers aren’t funding the same scheme?
Gee, we thought Bloomington hired consultants because David Hales refuses to make decisions. Maybe not.

I see they’ve redesigned their website. You can’t polish a turd…
The only county board member so far to call of Sorensen’s resignation is Erik Rankin and that is clearly politically motivated. The Pantycrap quoted Judge Caisley that “everyone is innocent until proven guilty.” Brilliant, judge. On a good day you’re senile and on your worst day you’re out of your mind. If you can’t see this a distraction, then maybe you should resign. Spend retirement in a nursing home instead of filling a chair on the county board. Then there’s Paul Segobiano who has been on the board for 80 years who also doesn’t see a need for Sorensen to resign. The McLean County Board is a good old boys club. If someone thinks he can get away swindling State Farm $400,00 what in the world is he doing with our tax dollars? This is especially troubling when his colleagues on the County board praise him for what a wonderful leader he has been. No accountability whatsoever. Wake up McLean County. The Feds aren’t going after you unless they’ve got a case and I don’t think we’ve heard the end.
🙂
Yes what is it with knowing where Rauner vacationed at. Who cares? It’s his personal time.
As for Sorensen I see several replies on the firewood fire starting paper website claiming an indictment isn’t really no big deal. Oh really! He probably knew all along he was being investigated. The grand jury found the evidence supporting the governments claim to be sufficient enough to indict. Now it’s a matter of them pleading not guilty as most people in prison have claimed too and going to trial allowing them to defend themselves. It looks pretty cut and dried to me. The jury gets to decide 0 days or 20 years or somewhere in between unless the jury pulls a nullification and says the laws ***** and we disagree. I doubt the latter will be the decision.
ANYONE who thinks this WILL NOT be is distraction is a complete and clueless IDIOT! Come on, If YOU were sitting on a board with a person who has a FEDERAL indictment filed on them, don’t you think that would bring YOUR OWN character into question? That is unless you 1)don’t care 2)are clueless or 3) doing something MUCH worse! Yeah, INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty, that’s WHY you HAVE to post bond, OR be held as a flight risk!! There’s ALL KINDS of innocent people in prison, just ask them! I bet 2 to 1 that THIS plot will thicken, because to take that MUCH money, you’d most likely need SEVERAL people involved or-once again-the animals running the ZOO!
He must have found stealing pretty easy, anybody really thing he stopped? Obviously – just a question!
The fraudulent activity against State Farm apparently started in 2004. Any reasonable intelligent individual would question whether Sorensen also has been involved in possible fraudulent behavior with County money and contracts. This is or should be a distraction for the McLean County Board especially if the FBI starts asking for files. Lack of integrity and morals are not turned on and off depending on the positions one holds.
