Also on Monday’s agenda-Bloomington

By:  Diane Benjamin

Bloomington paid $245,000 for the Sugar Creek Packing property, plus $6,000 for a study checking for hazardous waste.  Monday the Council will approve tearing the buildings down.  It’s only another $244,722.50.  The City will have a half a million invested with nothing to show but dirt.  Remember, they couldn’t obtain a certificate from the Illinois EPA certifying “no surprises” buried there.

sugarOn the consent agenda, spending more money on the Coliseum, almost $300,000:

The Buy Local theme ignored again – I think this company is in Champaign:

The far right column is the amount of budget left to spend.  I have no idea why various townships got money labeled “Economic Development”.  3 of the others are the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Downtown Bloomington Assoc, and the Economic Development Council.

  1. Spending always seems to be hidden in the Consent Agenda while everyone will be focused on the Golf Courses.
