Bloomington paid $245,000 for the Sugar Creek Packing property, plus $6,000 for a study checking for hazardous waste. Monday the Council will approve tearing the buildings down. It’s only another $244,722.50. The City will have a half a million invested with nothing to show but dirt. Remember, they couldn’t obtain a certificate from the Illinois EPA certifying “no surprises” buried there.
On the consent agenda, spending more money on the Coliseum, almost $300,000:

The far right column is the amount of budget left to spend. I have no idea why various townships got money labeled “Economic Development”. 3 of the others are the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Downtown Bloomington Assoc, and the Economic Development Council.
