Public Comment – worth watching!

By:  Diane Benjamin

The Council was close to sickly sweet to each other last night.  Not one of them mentioned the failed attempt by Tari Renner is bully them into passing the welcoming ordinance.

Citizens did however.  Just hit play to watch Public Comment.  If you want to see the guy Sonny Garcia calls a “teddy bear”, jump forward to 29:55.  The sad part is he will not be the least embarrassed by his comments.

The rest of the meeting was uneventful.

  1. Anyone who has looked in depth at the Third Reich would have grave reservations about labeling someone a Nazi.

  2. I found the nut jobs comments troubling. He issues a threat that resistance cells are getting ready to form locally. He is not talking about the resist movement. It already exists. I think he is referring to something much more sinister. I hope the Bloomington Police Chief took note of this as well.

  3. Angie, Regina, and the rest did a great job dressing down Renner. Let’s hope this is the last we hear of this ugly Ordinance. I was surprised that Renner pulled in his smartest supporter, Aaron the Idiot to say a few words. I think Aaron should be required to supply his own interpreter, because only god knows what the hell he is talking about. Perhaps one day, a sitting Alderman or maybe more, will publically ask the buffoon of a Mayor to stepdown before the City goes under, or civil anarchy breaks out.

Again, great job and excellent reporting Diane,

  4. Man Bun Man-Child flat out lied first of all. I was at the Bloomington Trump rally and he did NOT say anything there about attacking people etc – also that rag-tag little rude bunch of “protesters” that gathered outside were NOT met with any violence whatsoever – “Teddy Bear” prolly bumped up against something and imagined that he was “kidney punched”, so sick of their lies, and fantasies that they spew as if they were reality. I am sick of their willful ignorance, and I do believe they are mentally deficient in some way because they seem to lack the ability to process information in a reasonable manner, it somehow becomes grossly twisted beyond recognition of the original facts that are presented.

  5. Oh and Buena chica! Te estas volviendo bueno a esto. (Good girl You are getting good at this) To Angela – she did a wonderful job.
I go to the real Mexico a LOT (not to resorts…) and I do speak Spanish at least enough to get by. I think many of the “activists” here would be quite surprised to hear the way many REAL Mexicans feel about illegal entry to the USA. I have met some who did it and were deported, some who lost lots of money to coyotes, ones who had to run drugs for the cartels, ones who spoke of the forced prostitution of the young girls entering illegally and they said they would NEVER do it illegally again, that if they decided to go to the USA again they would do it the RIGHT way. Another woman told me that the people going North now are NOT the same as those who were going up years ago, that there now are many who are going JUST for the benefits because they do not want to work, she said there are still many of course who are good people as well and simply want to beable to make better money and to help their families in mexico too, but that many are connected to gangs and cartels and that the coyotes are nearly all drug cartel people or involved in human trafficking. SHE told me that if the United States would simply find a way to DENY any illegals any benefits at all that the number of lazy or bad people going up there would drop considerably, she by the way was a working class mestizo Mexican that I happened to sit next to on a long bus ride, not some rich elitist pure Spanish type, Mexico is horribly racist by the way in case ya’ll didn’t know, those who are the most “Spanish” are on top and the indigenous peoples/Indians are on bottom (along with the few Africans/ Blacks who are leftovers from the Spanish slave days.) Another man told me that he knew of a guy who was simply left to die in the desert because he could not pay the coyote the extra money he was wanting and that he would NEVER attempt to go to the USA unless he did it legally. It’s sad indeed that so many decent people are being hoodwinked and exploited by these “Che Guevara” types to this day and even right here in the good old Midwest.

  6. Thank you to the those of you who commented at the council meeting. Hopefully the council heard you. Re: Buddah. The ONLY people advocating and engaging in violence are the liberal progressive democrats, aka his crowd. Certainly NOT the rest of us. I agree that the BPD police chief better take note of the threats he spoke of. They want to start trouble and blame it on the rest of us. Re:Angela’s and Regina’s impassioned pleas. Tari KNOWS he is divisive. He was put here to BE divisive. He simply feels emboldened by what he’s done and will likely continue down this same path, unfortunately.

  7. Not ONE question as to why you need signs to tell people how to get downtown Bloomington. 90% of drivers have a GPS in their car or on their phone. This is 2018. Signs are irrelevant to a great degree. This is just a waste of a half million dollars that could be spent on the roads. Once again, the term “consultant” came up. Does anyone in the entire city that works for the city KNOW how to do ANYTHING without a consultant? Another waste of money! How did they get the job without knowing anything?

    1. Tell me about it. After 5 minutes with Trisha or the Downtown cheerleaders, you quickly understand just how disconnected from reality they really are. They will throw money at anything tied to Downtown and their supporters will cheer. It doesn’t have to make sense or benefit the community. As long as they mention Downtown, Tari and his supporters gush.

  8. Tari better get his boy Aaron under control. Everyone knows Tari thinks the same way Aaron does. And this kind of stuff will drive voters to the polls and he won’t “win by a landslide” of 18 percent of the voters next time.

    1. I know what you are saying but to clarify. Tari won by a landslide of getting the vote of just 9% of those who could have voted. 18% of those who could vote actually voted for someone,.

      1. DB Got that right….wish they did do elections for mayor, Gov etc same time as presidential….Would save money in election process might get more voters in booths.
I also think election process needs to change. Primaries are to determine top 2 candidates for each post, then those two run for final election. If from same party so be it. People like Madigan and others (maybe JB?) have put in straw candidates that divide the opposition vote and given them the election with less than 50% of vote.
In Tari’s case you are right Bloomington got what they deserve, unfortunately all taxpayers (even those who voted) are stuck with paying for lysol to polish this turd!

  9. Buddha clearly hates this country and I take exception to some of his claims. Our nation has some bad moments but so does the history of most countries The Kickapoo Indians are originally from what is now Michigan. They had their lands stolen and conquered by rival Indian tribes and we’re forced into Illinois.
Most of what is now the United States was controlled by Colonial Powers Spain, France and England 150 years before the United States even existed. We purchased Arizona and New Mexico from Mexico. I guess Mexico must of stolen that land from the Indians as well as California and Texas which we won as a result of a war with Mexico.
I wonder if Buddha has ever heard of the Louisiana Purchase where we bought land from France which now makes up 14 states?

  10. I hope Garcia’s Teddy Bear speaks at every meeting. He is obviously a nut job….will not insult Buddha by calling him that although man bun is good also. By him speaking every time it may help publicize who and what these idiots are about.
I would also like to see a commercial done from public comments next election that has clips of those who spoke against Tari with the line….and what does the average citizen think of Tari? Maybe roll in a few shots of city streets, closed businesses and headlines of shootings to support comments.

      1. Not as much as one thinks if they know how to use their compute for such. I am assuming however that public comment can be used for such. It was public comment and it was not (c) to my knowledge.

  11. Teddy Bear Boy needs to be careful with his threats. Elections have consequences. The days of the criminal/thug Holder and Lynch Justice Department allowing local Left-wing terrorists to run amuck are over. (Remember that scums’ non-handling of the New Black Panther case?) While I fault Jeff Sessions for softness on a number of issues, I will ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE you he will not spare resources to smash home grown terrorist organizations. We now have several operating in McLean County, probably coordinating directly with the Mayor of Bloomington.

  12. The public comments are seldom worth watching. It’s a waste of time. LOTS of grandstanding and self-aggrandizing. If people making public comment REALLY want change or to enact policy, meet with aldermen and staff one on one.

    1. Believe what you want. It’s not really a way to change anything, and I’d know. The elected officials can’t wait for public comment to be over. How would you react to being scolded and criticized at every meeting by Angela Scott or Bruce Meeks? It’s a waste of Alderman, staff and everyone else’s time who’s there to conduct the business on the agenda. It’s actually counter productive for Angela, Bruce, and Buddha wanting to get anything accomplished. Entertaining sometimes? Sure. Effective? Nope.

    2. Grandstanding for some, not for all. BTW Rich you do your share of grandstanding right here. Hey what about that question posed to you about illegal immigrants taking chances with their children? Disgusting, isn’t it?

    3. All I know is Jaime Mathy sold his business, Tari got another Nasty Gram from the Council, and Diana Hauman isn’t going to run again. I’m not speaking to the Council. I’m speaking to those that watch. The media is selectively leaving out crucial information. The truth needs to be spoken out loud for the people. Not the Council. I’m not giving up. I’m not dissuaded by your feelings Rich. I wonder if you “know” because you work for the City or if it’s because you think you are above the citizens. Just for clarity how do feel when the Immigration Project or the ACLU speaks?

  13. Teddy Bear appears to be an idiot. He starts out by saying Yo…? Really? “We are getting organized – starting to get resistance cells – you-all really need to do something otherwise you are helping the Nazis” I can tell you where this guy is going to end up… in a cell with a guy named Bubba and Jerome.
