Bloomington needs this:

By: Diane Benjamin

Below is what Bloomington’s downtown needs:

This is a man-made canal through the heart of downtown Indianapolis. It is complete with gondolas and singing gondoliers. Paddle boats are available for rent. There is very little retail on the wide walking paths but there is a lot of expensive condos. I think water would be a much bigger draw to downtown than something like walkable brick streets. Maybe a moat around the History Museum could be dug with cute walking bridges to transport people across. This isn’t very deep but it would easily draw more people than Uptown. Isn’t Bloomington wanting to out-do them?

(Of course I’m kidding!)

Agenda for tonight: https://d3n9y02raazwpg.cloudfront.net/cityblm/259f90f8-7d4f-11ed-9024-0050569183fa-791fe512-602c-4d20-98c8-ecdbbed39134-1695334797.pdf

Nothing is on the Regular Agenda but on item on the Consent Agenda includes a presentation and discussion time. Why? It should have been on the regular agenda. They want to approve a no bid contract for $4.3 million over 10 years with a company supplying medical equipment to the Fire Department. Fighting inflation!

Other than another chicken permit, there isn’t much else on the agenda. I wonder why chickens still need a permit when putting an addiction treatment house in single family zoning is fine? Zoning is really immaterial? https://blnnews.com/2023/03/28/bloomington-festivities-last-night-2/

There will be a riveting Finance Director’s report. Of course they are good, they also won’t consider giving any of their wealth back to you.

With so little on the agenda I wonder how many alderman will show up?

  1. This would solve the pothole problem wouldn’t it? Think of a canal on veterans parkway or Hershey road. No potholes no problem!
