Remember Bloomington Fireman #6?

By: Diane Benjamin

James Buenrostro was arrested in 2021 for domestic violence: https://blnnews.com/2022/02/03/bloomington-fireman-6/

Those charges were eventually dropped. I don’t know if the female involved decided not to testify or the State’s Attorney got tired of the case.

Rumor is James faced no consequences with his job as a Bloomington Firefighter either.

When there are no consequences for bad behavior there is no reason to change behaviors. Buenrostro was just arrested again for the same behavior with the same woman. She evidently learned nothing either. This time an illegal possession of a gun with an expired FOID card charge was added. Maybe James can finally get a ruling that FOID cards are unconstitutional.

Is the Fire Department going to let this one fade away too? Has the victim learned anything yet? Buenrostro was held in jail until yesterday. He was released without bail, just conditions.

  1. Kinda sounds like how “security” and law enforcement are immune and their crap gets pushed under rug and not published in local news (McLean and Champaign County)

decades of same thing McLean County and shady systems and rules/laws for sure

    Above persecution and publicizing

    Nothing new

    1. Law enforcement due to a terrible administration. No one calls out the bad cops starting with our crooked chief and his 3 asst chiefs. None of them know how to do a competent investigation. We also need to get rid of Gleason. He allows this.

    1. Ok, I’m not the only one wondering how he passes a health exam and physical fitness test. I am shocked am insurance underwriter provides him coverage based on those statistics alone.

  2. He didn’t get fired before because he has union protection. If he’s convicted this time, he’ll likely be fired. It looks as though his wife is also divorcing him, according to court records. She should have done that a long time ago.

Someone should FOIA his past workmen’s comp claims…

  3. “She evidently learned nothing either.
Obviously, you are a callous individual without a clue in regard to how domestic violence works…maybe you need to do some research and report on those findings

  4. I’m not enabling anyone, I’m an advocate for people in bad situations. I find it disgusting when someone in your field slanders a victim.

  5. Noone is slandering anyone – as a domestic violence victim for decades finances or lack thereof and ties with children many times and personal insecurities drive the go back tendency

Some abuses are quieter than others that are more blatant

I know there are many men and women that cry “abuse” to get out of awkward relationships or situations (usually affairs or such) Hard to ever know for sure and ruins MANY peoples lives and marriages and families many times

If there was police involvement multiple times we certainly do not have the whole story

McLean County “ leaders” and law and Emergency workers seem to have some immunity other folks don’t (rile based access and immunity)

    Prayers for all involved
