Monday was Tim Gleason’s last meeting so the Mayor had to do a list of his accomplishments. Mentioned was getting them through COVID which wasn’t difficult when the Feds threw many millions of dollars to them and tax receipts skyrocketed because of inflation.
The new budget is spending LESS on roads than previous years. With inflation $10 million for streets and sidewalks won’t fix many roads.
I recently drove through Old Farm Lakes. Every road in this subdivision is falling apart. Nothing will get better until the citizens DEMAND the roads get fixed. Elections are early next year.
If you want to reenact riding in a covered wagon, turn in off of White Eagle.

Mboka praised Gleason for funding road repairs. The $10 million in the budget next year for streets and sidewalks isn’t enough to fix just Old Farm Lakes. The mayor has been on the council for MANY years and knows that isn’t enough money. Roads have never been a priority and never will be since voters don’t demand funding. Downtown matters, Old Farm Lakes doesn’t. Alderman Montney was the only NO vote on the budget because roads matter. Old Farm Lakes is in her Ward.
Mr Giggles:

How does a guy who supposedly was “in charge” in Bloomington for 6 years, and did nothing about the sewers and streets, get a job paying him $230,000 a year? The city council in Decatur has to know this. How does the Mayor, who obviously really isn’t in charge, ignore this shortcoming?
Seems like most all of our public and private “leaders” in B-N and Central Illinois seem so use the same playbook and “strategy”.
Do as little as possible and money funnel to pet sustainable projects that are FAILURES and exploit taxpayers and residents and citizens in the State.
No surprise.

The mayor and entire ineffective Council needs to be replaced. My Ward 1 Alderwomen is irrelevant and unresponsive unless the topic is a taxpayer funded social program. Last year, the road in front of my house was listed at a 2. Last fall the City filled a few of the potholes and raised the road condition to a 4. Wonderful!! The very first act by the new city manager should be to reevaluate the city road repair schedule and add $$ to the pennies already authorized. The second is to send the homeless flock to Decatur. According to WAND TV there are 6,100 vacant houses in Decatur owned by the city and private ownership. Mr. Gleason is largely responsible for the homeless issue in Bloomington with increased taxes and fees property owners pass onto renters.
Unless and until they budget for $100,000,000 in resurfacing the ROADS, they will remain in POOR condition.
Tim fixed roads? I recently came back to BLONO to visit my mom we live in Tennessee now. The BLONO roads are worse than they were when we left 4 years ago. I’m not sure what mayor giggles is sniffing but it must be high quality stuff to be so delusional! I think the citizens of BLONO best be finding out what Tim did with the money he got for roads. Even the worst roads in Tennessee are a heck of a lot better than BLONO roads. And by the way how much money went towards Tim’s goodbye party?
