Grants, tent city, and giveaways

By: Diane Benjamin

Pulled from the Consent Agenda was approving a Community Change Grant from the EPA who is handing out $20 billion. (Inflation will continue as the Feds spend money they have to print) The money isn’t free, it’s still taxpayers who will be responsible for the debt.

Bloomington wants $20 million, most of it for separating sewers. The only reason they don’t have the money for infrastructure is because entertainment venues took priority over infrastructure.

Of that $20 million, $1 million will go to Home Sweet Home Mission because the grant REQUIRES partnering with a non-profit. Part of that money will be used to replace roofs and part will be used to relocate tent city. The Library Foundation, the Salvation Army, and the Ecology Action Center will also get some. (Christmas!)

Two video clips – 1st Surena Fish during Public Comment:

This item was pulled from the Consent Agenda. The documentation never says “tent city”. It’s called congregate shelter and non-congregate shelter. If you listened to the video above Surena says these are people who chose to be homeless. Instead of worrying about shelter from summer heat and winter cold bus tickets to a more moderate climate would solve the problem. LA has lots of tent people they could commiserate with. Has anyone asked them if they want a free trip?

Tent city was finally mentioned in the clip below. It is illegal where it is, a legal location is being sought either somewhere else in the City or County:

If you want to watch the entire conversation just hit PLAY below:

The rest of the meeting consisted of the ACLU opposing new cameras in City facilities at Public Comment and 3 proclamations. The poor dispatchers were named in the first proclamation, somebody didn’t get around to a fancy copy so nobody got their pic with mayor.

The ACLU was ignored because nothing claimed resembled reality. See that comment at 42:30. The cameras were pulled, see that discussion at 53:30.

  1. The priorities of the federal government and their grants are lacking. For 25 Billion they could of protected our nations electrical grid from solar flares and electro magnetic pulse bombs which would wipe out 90 percent of the population .

  2. The O’Biden administration is intentionally destroying America. Obama’s own words upon his first (s)election, “We will fundamentaly change America.”

  3. I would like to see the details of the $19million which will NOT go to HSHM… what exactly will it be spent on and who exactly will be the PAYEES? That’s way too much money to be spent for the good of The People. So sad for the taxpayers.

Also, why would the homeless people in tent city be taken OUTSIDE the city when they expect and need everything provided to them by THE CITY?
