Rivian?

By: Diane Benjamin

I’m told all the Rivians that were at State Farm got moved back to the plant late last week.

This article claims Rivian is cutting prices on existing vehicles: https://www.carscoops.com/2024/05/rivian-reportedly-cutting-prices-up-to-6000-on-existing-inventory/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1z3iomszUx_LdyRctX-wEu1DhPodGP1j4RgCYl4bhdb6PuZNRcQsOUZf4_aem_AYtZqwPMyEpz37xLNJEG_yPiLaFf7NS8D9go5i5zJr2Smdkd7Y2E_Ft2u74D7xZaZ-5hKKXrc0PO0UY8EVS2eY2Y

I was told the majority of the production lines are taking Fridays off – as in employees only get 32 hours instead of 40.

Are they trying to downsize the workforce by forcing people to quit because they need to work and get paid for 40 yours? It would sure look better than announcing layoffs!

Maybe government media can ask what’s going on, maybe not.

Is the local “housing crisis” fixing itself?

  1. Heresy. Rivian has been anointed with glorious tax dollars by F B Pritzker.
Many ‘associates’ have been laid off by giving them non-productive tasks until the workers decide the place is run much has a hack shop. Or they are fired for meaningless infractions of unwritten rules and regulations.
The plan is to have contractors (I.e. new hired individuals with no prior experience or knowledge) to build their vision of the future. There is little or no coordination between the departments, the staff is demoralized, the building is dangerously designed by individuals that have egos bigger than the illustrious leadership.
Georgia is a fiasco—acres of land that will sit while the intelligence here waits for more money or any state to donate to the cause
Ever wonder why Illinois is also known as the Sucker State

    1. The best way to keep abreast of what’s going on at Rivian is to read the automotive trade articles and ignore local sources that don’t have a clue. I knew four people that worked at the plant. Two quit and the other two laid off. The two that quit cited many of the same reasons you wrote in your post. According to them, it was a total shitshow. Also, there are several articles that state with evidence that there isn’t close to enough minerals (copper, cobalt and lithium) or labor to mine them to make EV’s sustainable. As most everyone knows, the minerals mined in Africa is done with a majority of child labor. Pritzker, Koos and Scaringe could care less. Too much dirty money to be made.

        1. I really get under your skin, don’t I? I don’t have a problem with any manufacturer as long as they are telling the truth. Problem is, Rivian never has. So do you work in their p.r.department or just part of the Koos Gang? Tell us, which one? I sat in the same room with Scaringe on two occasions and listened to him lie his ass off about his history, how he had left other communities high and dry and his overall automotive experience. Rivian has a employee revolving door that goes non-stop. Hundreds have already quit. It will only survive by being propped up by government handouts because it not enough people want its unproven product and the expenses that go with it. I’m far from an automotive expert, just sharing my knowledge on what I read and hear. Keep believing the fantasy. Hydrogen is the future anyway, not electric. Sweet green dreams and let me know when the earth is going to explode within two years because of man-made climate change. BN idiot.

          1. Pea…Finally I agree with you, that you’re far from an automotive expert. No skin in this game for me, only rooting for the future of us BN idiots.

  2. Yes, I drove by Corp South on Mercer last week and noticed the parking lots within my view were empty. I didn’t drive onto SF property to take a closer look to confirm all of the Rivians are gone, though. I keep thinking with Bidenomics, there can’t be that many more people with the means to spend 70 grand on an EV. Maybe one of these days they will close down and go away.
