Ward 9 Candidate: Roger Bedeker

Bloomington, IL – 7/26/2024 – Roger Bedeker, a lifelong resident of Central Illinois, has announced his candidacy for City Council Ward 9 in Bloomington. “I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for City Council” said Bedeker. “Having grown up in Central Illinois and raising my family here, I am passionate about what lies ahead for our community. I will listen to the concerns of our residents and work collaboratively to find effective solutions for a brighter future.”

Bedeker and his wife Rachel have two children who attend Unit 5 schools. He has served in a variety of roles at State Farm since 2006 and holds a B.A. in Organizational Management from Ashford University. Rachel, an Illinois State alum, is an executive with Tentac Enterprises. Together they volunteer for several charitable organizations.

Bedeker’s campaign will focus on four key issues: reducing taxpayer burden, promoting economic development, addressing aging infrastructure, and keeping residents safe. He believes in fostering a sense of community and ensuring that every resident’s voice is heard.

“Together, we can make Bloomington an even better place to live, work, and raise a family,” Bedeker continued. “I am dedicated to serving our community with integrity and look forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact.”

  1. This dude has never even voted in a municipal race and has only voted in 1 primary (2016). Why is he is so interested in running for the municipals when he’s never even participated in voting in them?

  2. Another candidate looking to manipulate government for their own prosperity and their own agenda. They might scream they are right side instead of left crazy, but they ain’t much better. At least the current ward 9 council member listens to reason and tries to represent his ward. I’ll take a representative of the people over a representative of corporate greed every time. Say No to Tentac.

    1. He doesn’t work at Tentac. Unless you’re saying that Tentac recruited him to run.

I am in Ward 9 and have not been happy with Alderman Crumpler. I have reached out a few times about issues. It took until the 3rd issue to even get a call back. He does not seem to live in the real world, but being a retired state university employee, he doesn’t have to live in the real world.

Note: if you want to talk to a great Alderman, Donna Boelen will help people even if not in her ward.

    1. who sent him ?

.. because we don’t need nobody that nobody sent.

.. and who were the sellouts allowed that gerrymandered looking ward map in the first place ?

      … oh rite , nobody.

  3. No I don’t know him. I don’t know anything about him. You had me at “economic development” of which I think you have repeatedly noted that government isn’t good at economic development. Then there is the “fostering a sense of community” which depending upon which side he is might be concerning. Not like we haven’t heard that term come out of the socialist mouths before. Looking back at you comment at 1:29pm, “Just guessing, I don’t know him.” And mine was a stupid comment, really?!? Whatever.

  4. Yikes! Where are local Republicans finding these duds. This guy seems like Straza-lite. The same approach of “say nothing to be everything to everyone.” Totally not differentiating himself from Crumpler at all. This town really sucks at finding decent candidates for local office.

  5. I heard Straza will be announcing in Ward 5 soon. Supposedly, he was going to go for mayor again, but Dan Brady will be too hard to beat so council it is. I haven’t heard whether Montney will run again. She told me to my face she never even wanted to run, that she only ran because Mboka begged her to and thought she would be successful with his backing. None of the candidates have any desire to be actual public servants other than Boelen as far as the GOP is concerned, and even Boelen is shifting further left. She’s part of the strong towns group whose entire board is a bunch of socialists.

    1. Ick! Not Straza again. In terms of Mayor, it’s also worth noting that some of the Responsible Cities folks like Sally Pancrazio have already started donating to Brady, so they’ve already anointed their candidate of choice.

  6. Responsible Cities PAC Is a bunch of wealthy elites from both sides of the aisle who only care about getting people elected that will help boost their own businesses. Sally wins awards from the Democrats but parades Dan Brady around any chance she gets. They created the PAC to keep left wing extremists from being elected though, so at least that is something.

    1. it is most certainly NOT ‘a bunch’ of wealthy elites. Very few in fact. And the list of donors to the pac shrinks every reporting period.

elites have and are catching on that this pac has a poor track record of backing winning candidates. Most of their minions lose their respective races.

the pac itself only has a few thousand bucks left – and the shrinking donor pool is getting wise to the lack of ROI.

this pac is little more than a ‘pass thru’ vanity effort that lacks both the clout and the monetary donation force to actually get people elected.
