Free Concerts aren’t free

By: Diane Benjamin

Looks to me like taxpayers funded this “Free” concert. It also looks like 388 people preferred to pay $5 instead of buying something downtown. ($1940.00 / $5)

  1. Drove downtown (depressing atmosphere) …
These events are intended to stimulate the economy and bring folks in and impress them and want them to stay (but seems a big game as always and juggling the budgets with a few elite “leaders” running/choreographing everything getting big bonus and pay and raises.) Taxes sky high by the way.
Have no desire to patron or go down there unless absolutely needed.

Also drove on East side of Bloomington near Ekstam drive (near Baxters and airport area) yesterday. Was surprise that on Ekstam had a bus load of what it appeared to be migrants or young/teens in a parking lot behind one of the buildings. Are they shipping them here from Chicago or elsewhere to live/stay? Who is funding and getting the $? What NFPs are fueling it all? Why do we all in Central Illinois and B-N area pay so much taxes and who locally is benefiting short/long term?

So many concerns run through my mind when I think about Central Illinois.

    1. Pritzker vilified the Supreme Court over Dobbs yesterday. He’s uniformed on purpose because it fits his agenda. I wonder is he isn’t the VP pick because he removed toilets in his house to avoid taxes?

  2. They spread misinformation when they claim concerts or bands are free. The taxpayers pay for this so-called free entertainment. Why should taxpayers pay for free entertainment? Because the leftist progressive marxist democrats say so.
