Do you know Normal’s Pension Funding Percents?

By: Diane Benjamin

Just living in Illinois means citizens are required to fund pension without asking any questions. You should at least know how the funds are performing. Normal’s last year wasn’t great.

These numbers are as of 3/31/2024 which is Normal’s year end.

Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) will require higher contributions since it took a LARGE hit. This is the pension fund for everyone not Fire and Police.

Police pension funding is still below 50%, not a good sign.

Fire pension funding also decreased.

Bond debt is still almost $67,000,000. TIF reports are not available but the Uptown TIF is going to expire soon which means money to pay the debt will be drying up too.

  1. Stealing from others….while they retire with income for life while others barely have anything and get none (how projects are funded and by whom) and exploiting taxation..
