This pic is from a video was on NextDoor. The comments say geese were being shot at the airport. That makes sense since geese and planes can be a deadly combination. There is a retention pond west of the airport with large geese population. Shooting a few won’t fix the problem permanently.

.
I’ve never understood why geese are protected since there are too many of them. Last year a saw a lady trying to cross a parking lot but a goose kept obstructing her. The bird wasn’t protecting a nest because nothing was around except asphalt and concrete. I ended up asking her if she wanted a ride around the goose. She happily hopped in my car.
This comment was also on the NextDoor video:

Don’t take my word for it, but evidently there is a goose hunting season. Too bad hunting in town isn’t allowed unless the airport is involved.

Yeah, they need to change it to open season. What are the guidelines for a protected species? There is no way these geese are endangered, they are a danger to society with all the poop they leave around and they are aggressive to humans and other animals.
Why would you allow hunting in town? In the city stray bullets don’t just hit trees and sheds.
No sense of humor?
