Is WGLT Ignoring Danenberger’s Claims?

By: Diane Benjamin

Excerpt from a May 7, 2025 email:

WGLT hasn’t printed a story. It’s been 2 weeks since John Danenberger claimed he was going to talk to them. One of these is true:

  1. Danenberger didn’t talk to WGLT
  2. WGLT didn’t believe him
  3. Other?

Maybe WGLT would do a story if they had this:

This document isn’t available by FOIA from the City of Bloomington because no one was arrested and a minor is mentioned. I have obtained by other means.

If WGLT does a story supporting Danenberger, I’ve got lots of information to the counter whatever they print.

Resign as alderman “for health reasons” John to end this charade. You keep digging a deeper hole for yourself.

  1. Rumor or fact that their marketing/fundraising head was Dannenberger’s council campaign manager?

          1. I think he means Melissa Libert. Danenberger’s personal ethics and decisions would lead me to not vote for him. Unfortunately he represents an area that will continue to vote for him no matter what.

It does not surprise me that WGLT would not publish a tough piece about someone from his political sphere. The decision would not be the same if this was a conservative member or candidate. WGLT blatantly does not report all the newd and stifles stories that would not fit their narrative.

  2. So what’s so unusual about a person of presumable unethical character holding a responsible position in Bloomington-Normal? The local Clique has covered for their own there since forever. Most of the presumed leadership in BN cheat on their spouses, are perverts and love their liquor to excess. Just go to a Chamber or any other event and see for yourselves. Sounds like this series of events is just more standard operating procedure with a different character. Oh, it never changes in case anyone is wondering.

  3. When everyone in leadership and authority and “security” and law all are related to each other or affiliated with a “board position” of some sort or other. Pretty easy to not have any push back or question anything. Nepotistic, legal and Corporate and vendor cronies and system generally stick together and calling the shots, and keep raking in the $$$$

    Not new with this either.
