Going Forward  As we’ve often said, the U.S. Constitution gives us the right to pursue the formation of a new state – but it’s neither a quick nor a simple process. There is no guarantee of success, but this is too important not to try. There’s much more to do. We are committed to advancing this movement to bring back government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It took about nine years for the Solidarity Movement in Poland to free themselves from their Communist government. New Illinois has been working on the formation of a new state for seven years. We have seen growing momentum in the past few months. We have always believed that reaching this goal would be closely tied to the unsustainable financial situation of Old Illinois. In recent months, it has become clear to more and more people that Chicago and the State of Illinois are approaching the edge of that financial cliff.   We have always noted that the key to success in the movement for a new state is the support of the PEOPLE of Illinois. We know there is widespread support throughout the state. Our challenge is to connect with and mobilize the people, county by county. We need your help to do this!
