Of course the City denies any fault.
The Bloomington-Normal Water Reclamation District (BNWRD) is paying $150,000 to settle a federal employment discrimination lawsuit filed by Joseph Brewer:

.
I researched this Federal Case and found something interesting. It was filed in 2023, that means money has been spent defending it since. Now in 2025 BNWRD is settling while denying any fault.
The original lawsuit requested $75,000, so the settlement is more than twice that?

.
I can’t post a link because a PACER account is required to view federal court records.
See the November BNWRD packet here: https://blnnews.com/bnwrd-docs/
The settlement starts on PDF page 127.
This statement is on PDF page 128:
WHEREAS, the BNWRD denies the claims made by Brewer and is settling the pending cause of
action to avoid the uncertainty, cost, and inconvenience of further litigation;

It’s November. We gotta close out the books on 2025, so negotiation issues get unstuck.
