Proclamation postponed! Bloomington tonight – 3/9/26

By: Diane Benjamin

Separation of Church and State is immaterial tonight. Do Christians ever get a Proclamation?

The Islamic faith will: https://bloomingtonil.portal.civicclerk.com/event/4101/files/attachment/8470

I dare you to name any Islamic country where Freedom and Liberty prevail and women aren’t second class citizens. Don’t even ask about LGBTQ rights, they don’t exist. Nice job Administration Department.

Is Bloomington spending TIF money that doesn’t exist? https://bloomingtonil.portal.civicclerk.com/event/4101/files/report/4897

Since funds in TIF districts are only reported once a year when the financial statements are issued, the balance in the 2 downtown TIF districts is almost 1 year old.

See PDF page 3 on both links:

Downtown TIF had a zero balance: https://files.illinoiscomptroller.gov/LocGovTIF/FY2025/06402530/25TIF06402530Downtown_1.pdf

Downtown Southwest TIF had a balance of $207,383 – BUT – $188,931 of that came from a transfer to the TIF from the City. https://files.illinoiscomptroller.gov/LocGovTIF/FY2025/06402530/25TIF06402530Downtown_outhwest_1.pdf

Next year’s HUGE budget will be formally presented. Federal and State mandates will be blamed for infrastructure upgrades.

  1. Islam is incompatible with the Christian ideas of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These ideas uniquely developed in western Europe because of the teachings and salvation of the Risen Christ. 51 of 56 signers of the declaration of independence were orthodox Christians, including one pastor, and the other 5 being vaguely Deists who nevertheless believed in God as the supreme law giver, Providence maker, and eternal judge, such that only the perfect Divine can simultaneously hold the 3 branches of government, legislator, executive, and judge.

John Locke, who influenced Jefferson with his “Two Treatise on Government” was also a theologian and wrote extensive commentaries on the Holy Scriptures, and upon the requirements for a Christian Nation to promote morality and the public virtue required for self governance.

At the time of the signing of the declaration, every US State has some combination of an established state church, taxpayer funded churches, or a Christian religious test for office.

These are Christian ideas, for a Christian people, living in a Christian Nation.

    Christ is King.

  2. Contrast how far the liberals have yanked Bloomington to the left with the patriots in Texas:

“Republicans in the Texas House, led by state Rep. Brent Money, R-Greenville, have launched the Sharia Free Texas Caucus following a similar federal caucus launched by Texas Republican congressmen.

Sharia law, an Islamic legal framework derived from Islamic texts, including the Quran and Hadith, “has fueled centuries of oppression, including violence against women, children, and non-believers who refuse to submit. It rejects freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and equal protection under its laws – all of which are foundational to Texas law and culture,” caucus members state.”

  3. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dan Brady, being a useful idiot and Mayor of Bloomington, do hereby proclaim
March 20, 2026 as “EID-UL-FITR DAY” in Bloomington

Fixed it for ya Dan. As a life long Christian and a patriot, I proclaim that I reject all of that proclamation.

  4. Dan Brady has always been a huge RINO! Have a clue Dan, Islam is not compatible in any way with our culture. Anyone who thinks otherwise suffers from compassionate ignorance. The same people who get out of their cars to pet and feed the bears. Study Islam and you will quickly learn that it is NOT like any other religion. JK

  5. The blatant bigotry and Islamophobia is unbelievable. It’s apparent that none of you know anyone who is Muslim. I see Muslim women as doctors and in many professional positions. My neighbors who are Muslim are good friends who participate in our community. They pay taxes and are as American as anyone on this comment board. Shame on your bigotry towards a religion you have no clue about. The fact is in your comment you have no understanding what Islam means as a religion or what the Koran says about compassion or morality. To hate a religion you don’t understand is the height of hypocrisy and ignorance.

    1. I’m a heritage american going back to the mayflower. They are not “as American as anyone on this comment board.”
Get a grip. It took centuries for Europe to appreciate life and liberty, you cant just dump someone in the USA and wave a magic wand and POOF! Propositional American!

That’s not how culture, nations, or people work.

      1. Muslims were here at the beginning of this country. Arab Muslims have been in Detroit for years. Fought in the Revolutionary War. Muslims I know are doctors, nurses, teachers and many professional positions. They are American citizens just like you.

You really don’t know any Muslims. Give me one Muslim you personally know.

“Sounds like you don’t”….It sounds like the shear ignorance in these comments that no one on this blog knows any Muslims. They are in our community contributing to our country. Islamophobia is dangerously rampant in Nationalistic Christianity.

Shame on this bigoted and disgusting misinformation, blaming a religion you know nothing about other than to demonize that religion and people you purposely choose to misunderstand.

        1. 😂😂😂 Where do you think the Marine song came from? To protect from outside invaders. You better be scared, they are the ones who have terrorized this Country! Did you forget 9/11? What about the truck bomb under the towers 10 years before that? You are clueless and part of the problem. Any Muslims who are American may or may not have assimilated to this Country. Looks like you only see what you want to see

    2. Let me know when you decide to support the Bloomington City Council making similar, supportive declarations for the Christian faith from the dais.

    3. @Rebecca

First, no one here has an irrational fear of Islam, so you’re “Islamophobia” is wrong. Extreme dislike of something doesn’t ever equate to irrational fear. Please, fire off more buzzwords so you can look cool some more.
Second, go look up the doctrine of taqiyya and then get back to me on these so-called “moderate” muslims.
Third, I second Doge’s sentiments about heritage. My family tree goes back to the 1700s. These muslims are NOT like me.

If I am bigoted towards them, maybe it’s because they want to kill me for being an infidel. And I don’t want to be killed for being an infidel. I also don’t want to be a muslim. Sounds like an impasse with only one solution. I’m not Catholic, but I find myself wishing the Pope wasn’t so weak.

P.S. – If anyone actually IS afraid of Islam, they have good reason to be. Most religious terrorism around the world is perpetrated by muslims. There were pipe bombs thrown at protesters in NYC on Saturday by a guy yelling allahu ackbar. Saudi Arabia still has slaves, to this day. And they still have public executions/beheadings to this day. Islam is NOT compatible with the west. Period. End of Story. Fin.

  6. Rebecca, in spite of your slurs that drifted from governance to personal, as a patriot, I defend your right to express your opinions without slandering you personally.
Would you do that for me?
    I won’t hold my breath.

    1. Excuse me when someone writes a something so wrong I do take exception . Despite everyone here claiming to be patriots, you sure can slur an entire religion. It’s obvious that no one knows that Muslims have been in our country since the beginning. They fought in the Revolutionary War. They are doctors, nurses, teachers and Mayors and are in Congress. Muslims have fought in our wars.

Muslims are not trying to kill you. They are not trying to convert you. Taqiyya was a practice of concealing one’s faith under persecution or forced conversion by Christians in Spain and other European countries.

  7. Oh well I have friends that are Muslim they are just the nicest people in the world. Their religion teaches them that you can accept those of a different faith but at the same time all you have to do is mentally think that is not how I really feel you are immediately forgiven for expressing your feelings of liking those of a different faith than you.
Look at all those women in America that are protesting the actions against Iran, the women protesting are not covering their heads and faces if they were in Iran they would face death for not covering up.
So all you leftists out there continue to bad mouth those that are telling Americans to be cautious of Muslims for they have one goal in mind take over America eventually and you will be the among those that supposed to be the chosen ones.
Our God doesn’t teach us to hate anyone but America was established with Christian principles all of you Americans don’t forget that.

  8. I really struggle with this. It touches on the question- what is America? Are we a bunch of identities struggling for dominance over all others? Or are we an America that has people from many backgrounds, and beliefs that pledge allegiance to the same flag of America?

      1. Which would make those that believe in a theocracy incompatible with the idea of pledging allegiance to the American flag, “one nation”, and the constitution. They should be asked to leave.

  9. We are an America from many backgrounds but we ask for one thing swear allegiance to our flag and country don’t open our borders to those that have no desire to be or swear allegiance to our flag or country those that look for one thing feed me and reward me for just coming here, all one has to do is look at all those that don’t learn our language and display not our flag but the flag from the country that they left.

  10. Propositional Nationhood only works in select scenarios where the nation and its institutions already share many of the same or compatible commonalities; people, place, custom, language, religion, culture, etc. When there is a solid and relatively homogeneous foundation, newcomers can selectively join in, if they agree to fully join or align with the native people via assimilation, conformity. There is strength, cohesion, and congruity in this commonality. There can be some improvising around the melody of the nation’s spirit, if the harmony is not chaotic and divisive.

It also takes time, a long time, generations infact, for the harmony for an individual to vibrate at the same frequency with the majority’s melody. The more off pitch or out of tune the harmony of the newcomer, the longer it will take, and it would be wise to exercise caution before fully admitting them to join the choir.

Remember the preamble of the Constitution: “to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” That is the purpose of the American government. For the people who were already here and their physical descendants. I would also point you to who the very first Congress decided would be permitted to join this new Union, their first expression of immigration/naturalization law, in 1790.
