The court record shows he tried to get out on bond, the order on his motion isn’t available so I assume he is still being held. There was a pretrial conference held in April, I have no idea when his trial will be.

Local Public Defender Sean Lenchus was arrested this week for social media threats he made. Derek Lopez made threats against the president and showed violent tendencies which is probably why he’s being held.

Lenckus didn’t threaten the president. The document filed by an FBI agent with the court do not show he ever acted on any threats. That is the likely why he got bond. He also blamed alcohol:

Lenckus was reported by Google to the FBI for numerous vile comments he made on YouTube. I will not quote any of his comments or post the document, as it contains a significant amount of personal information that could allow others to identify and harass him.

Alcohol doesn’t change personality or beliefs. I believe Lenckus should be permanently disbarred. The people who were assigned to him in his role as a public defender might have cause for legal action against him personally — his comments targeting a specific group of people were that bad. However, revealing his comments might prevent him from getting a fair trial, so I will not reveal them.
