Bloomington Tonight – 6/8/2027

By: Diane Benjamin

On the regular agenda: https://bloomingtonil.portal.civicclerk.com/event/4104/files/report/5227

The former Clay Dooley building is in the Downtown TIF. Premium Loaves plans to spend $4.2 million to turn it into the above. The corporate office will be on the second floor, the first floor will be available commercial space.

The developer claimed the project required funding assistance so tonight they will receive a property tax rebate. This project will not require paying Prevailing Wage. Read more details at the link above.

The only other regular agenda item is giving the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council (BNEDC) $100,000. I believe that is the same amount as previous years.

This is in the resolution:

Don’t expect to see those reports.

This is on the Consent Agenda:

UPS and FedX need a place to park when delivering packages.

It could be a short meeting.

  1. According to the Pantagraph from earlier this year, “Premium Loaves is currently headquartered at 1717 Fort Jesse Road in Normal, but the franchisees purchased the former Clay Dooley Building at 307 E. Grove St., in November.”

This company is not “moving” into the community, unless it is moving from Normal. Increases in local employment numbers will be minimal.

      1. Lower floor is for retail…additional parking needed?? Lincoln Parking garage is nearby. lol
