Connect Transit – Yesterday

By: Diane Benjamin

The latest Connect Transit Board meeting was yesterday. No video of that meeting is posted on YouTube where all the others are.

I would have loved to hear this discussion:

How much do they think 12 electric buses that don’t run will sell for? Remember when they tried to give them to Heartland and Heartland didn’t want them? This is millions of tax dollars trashed because going “green” was pushed when “green” didn’t work.

At the September meeting it was stated more bus grants will be applied for. This time they want diesel/electric hybrid buses.

Just for information:

Connect Transit doesn’t generate enough revenue to even cover employee health insurance:

More stats:

Note:

In order to achieve .04% more riders, the fixed route buses ran 10.8% more hours.

Flex Ridership fell off some cliff we don’t know about.

367 rural people took 498 hours to transport.

This is the Connect Transit Mission Statement, copied from the September 22, 2026 video:

Leadership really believes this is what they are doing.
