Bloomington and Normal both DEFEATED electric aggregation in March for numerous reasons. The biggest being: Nobody informed the voters it would be on the ballot! It was cutely worded to make people think the “government is looking out for you”. Bunk. Did they inform you THEY would make money too? Did they tell you it was to control you, not help? Did they tell you the new rates were low, but that doesn’t mean they won’t go up without notice in the future? Did they tell you they were going to purchase X amount, and if X amount wasn’t enough for the city, your new smart meter could shut you off or your rate would go up?
YOU can negotiate your own reduction from Ameren rates, thanks to deregulation. You have probably received a letter like below – CALL TODAY. Nothing will change with your elecric service. Get your own discount – tell government you are smart enough to make your own decisions. Aggregation will return! Beware of government bearing gifts!
