Government really hates being questioned. The elites would prefer the citizens are uniformed and disinterested. Agendas, tax increases, and illegal behavior are much easier to accomplish if nobody is paying attention. The attacks on me personally are beginning. I posted one last week from Normal City Manager Mark Peterson, I may post another one later.
I’m not running for any office now or in the future. The only reason I report to you is because Our Kids Deserve Better! We are the first generation risking future generations with debt and bad public policy. Government never discusses what their Constitutional job is. They completely ignore what made this country great, it had nothing to do with government. Citizens used to be free to make their own decisions instead of government telling them how things must be done. Think Henry Ford, the Wright Brothers, even Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. We are now being strangled by regulations and laws to socially engineer the country and redistribute wealth. Capitalism is being crushed by people wanting to replace it. I refuse to submit.
The citizens of Normal are already buried in debt. They didn’t pay attention and now they are facing massive tax increases. Bloomington government wants to do the same thing to its citizens. As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, maybe the end is worth another read:
It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
I will not let it “perish from the earth” without a fight. Attack away local government. The people are way smarter than you think they are.
