Here’s the latest on Normal’s street plans UPDATE

My sources tell me Bryan will not have bike lanes.  Cars and bikes are expected to “coexist”.  The purpose of the narrowing is to slow down cars to match the speed of bikes.  The bike master plan for Normal is extensive and expensive.  Cottage is expected to become a 2 lanes road with bike lanes and turn lanes.  Normal’s plan will take 20 years to complete.  Expect to see narrower car lanes and narrower intersections everywhere.

Meanwhile, no conservatives who value taxpayer money and freedom are running for City Council.  Evidently the citizens of Normal approve.

The Town of Normal claims narrowing the intersections has something to do with bikes.  Currently there are no bike lanes.  The first picture clearly shows how narrow the intersection now is at Bryan and Adelaide.  If a car is at the Bryan intersection and another one wants to turn on to Bryan from Adelaide, it’s going to be a tight squeeze.

Driving these roads is now much more difficult, but it gets better.  Taxpayers in Normal now get to pay landscaping crews to maintain the new flowerbeds.  Feel free to celebrate.  Maybe the assessed value of your property will increase too – beautification.

    1. Great picture! The only thing missing is Koos at the front, then Peterson holding on real tight, Sonja, and the others on the back, front wheel 12 inches off the ground,,,too much weight. Plugging their faces on would be funny, haha.
