The VOGELnator fails again

By:  Diane Benjamin

Hey Steve Vogel – forget something?  You agreed to add a disclaimer to every story you do about the City of Bloomington stating YOUR daughter was Renner’s campaign manager twice!  What happened?  Thought I would forget?

Maybe Stevie’s daughter is disenchanted with Renner and will NOT be his campaign manager – if he runs again.

Maybe Vogel is disenchanted with Renner and would never support him again, so he doesn’t feel the need to reveal his association.

Maybe next Saturday he will tell the public the truth.  He can add the disclaimer and then some corrections to his editorial today.

The first part is about the $750,000 Brady grant.  Stevie, you forgot to ask Renner if he called Bill Brady before running to Springfield trying to bypass the Senator.  If you were Brady, wouldn’t you be a little ticked if a mayor thought he could trump a sitting Senator?  Kind of important to the story, don’t you think?  If Bloomington loses the money, isn’t it more Renner’s fault than Brady?  (or at least a tie!)

Vogel then decided to weigh in on the public comments last Monday.  He must think it’s just fine that some aldermen show up for Council meetings in bib overalls and others in jeans, but Steve thinks the public should show self-control.  It’s totally possible to spend millions and millions of dollars looking like you just came in from the garden, but considering it’s not your money aldermen, how about at least looking like you have respect for the citizens and the office you represent?  Sorry, forgot.  The pots don’t respect the citizens or the office.  David Sage spent the public comment time staring at his desk.  The others didn’t look very interested either.

Stevie accused one speaker of using profanity.  My, my Stevie.  You must have missed the meeting where the Honored Mayor uttered the exact same thing!  He hasn’t been mayor for that long – start watching them all until you find it.

I appreciate you plugging my site Steve, even if it wasn’t by name.  Your article probably intrigued a few more people to go watch at least part of the council meeting video.  Just like most of the media, you missed a big important point.  Yes, I have been trying to get information under the Freedom of Information Act, but I HAD TO FILE A LAWSUIT TO DO IT!  You left that detail out Mr (so-called) journalist.

Vogel called me a “blogger”.  The site is named BlnNEWS for a reason Steve.  Since the Pantagraph doesn’t do investigative reporting, somebody has to.  Did you know 2 City employees were vastly over-paid and then forced to pay the money back Stevie?  You don’t find the City over site of taxpayer money a problem?  How about the integrity of the employees who just banked the extra dough?  These aren’t minor employees living pay check to pay check.

Go back to writing fluff please Steve, opinion writing shouldn’t be done by people who exclude facts or never knew them to begin with.
