Do facts matter Pantagraph?

By:  Diane Benjamin

Just this week the Pantagraph admitted guilt when Alton Franklin was left off the candidate summaries.  I say “admitted guilt” because a few days later they printed Franklin’s responses to questions AND a correction to what they had printed for two Normal candidates.

Then today, Steve Vogel editorialized about Bloomington’s garbage.  He forgot again to include a disclaimer that his daughter was Renner’s campaign manager TWICE.  His editorial got the facts wrong, maybe he should read BlnNews.  Stevie reported the cost of local pickup was included in the taxes citizens already paid until 2003.  I reported the year as 2005 on March 9th and I even included a link to the Council meeting:  http://blnnews.com/2015/03/09/bloomington-garbage-was-free-until-2005/

Maybe 2003 sounds like a lot longer ago than 2005.  Maybe Stevie called the City and they gave him bogus information.  Maybe Stevie didn’t research the issue at all and just guessed.  What other reporting are they totally blowing?  Since the Pantagraph doesn’t do any investigations, maybe they at least get the fluff close to right.  (don’t laugh – I see you snickering)

THREE errors in one week Pantagraph!  You do realize you get paid to report the truth, don’t you?  I heard numerous newspapers in southern Illinois are folding, are you next?  (We can dream!)

Parts of the editorial made way too much sense, so I expect the City not to care.  Maybe Vogel is trying to send a message to Hales and Renner – GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

He should have just said it.

  1. The bird cage liner only employs lackey journalists with no ethical standards. Do what you are told or hit the road, no paycheck for you. I think I would rather clean toilets. At least it is obvious on a constant basis that whatever is identified as shit, should be disposed of, flushed away, never to be seen again.
