Hauman: Unfit for office

By:  Diane Benjamin

The best parts of City Council meetings are frequently Public Comment and Aldermen comments at the end of meetings.  Last night was no exception.

Alderman Hauman READ a statement declaring some people guilty of misusing free speech.  She even claimed people and businesses wouldn’t locate here if they watched Public Comment.

I here you laughing!

Besides the obvious complete denial of God-given rights, Hauman forgot the war started with her.  Remember when she WALKED OUT of Council during Public Comment?  She claimed last night somebody called her a “brown shirt Nazi”, maybe the shoe fits Diana!

How about a new name?  Try Vanburenish.

So you don’t have to look it up, it means an unprincipled or evasive politician.  Diana, that’s from 1836 when Martin Van Buren ran for President.

From 1850’s – politicians who needed taken down a peg were called “high muckamucks.”

Abraham Lincoln was called Despot, Buffoon, Old Scoundrel, and Ignoramus Abe.

Here’s a good one:  Snollygoster.  It means political hypocrite.

Enough history of elected people being called names?

Diana, you really need to move to Normal and run for office there.  Everything is fixed, tax increases pass without complaint, and citizens rarely say a word.

Bloomington will NOT be turned in Normal because you want it to.

You and others on the Council pretended to listen to citizens to get elected.  You went door-to-door acting reasonable.  Just a few months ago you told citizens that Bloomington wasn’t considering a 1% Sales Tax hike.  Magically it showed up and magically you voted for it.

Citizens said Needs before Wants over and over and over.  Why survey citizens, hold summits, and then ignore the results?

Tired of citizens?  Quit now.  You weren’t elected queen, dictator, free-speech director, or Renner lackey.  If you governed FOR the people instead of fleecing them your life would be a lot easier.

Respect is earned Diana.  Represent the citizens for a change if you want to start earning some.  People and businesses won’t move here because of taxes Diana.  Renner and your fellow “potted plants” are destroying Bloomington, not citizens expressing their opinions.

Watch her read her statement at 1:19:13.

  1. “Diana Hauman” (I’m doing her cutesy little “quotey” motion right now) is a true Stalinist.
If you don’t think that, if she could, she would be lining Conservatives up along the walls of the City Hall and having them machine gunned, you don’t understand her mentality.

  2. First, I do not live in Bloomington. Second, I have held an elective office on a smaller scale. Now, I believe if your going to hold a public office such as this City Council and know it is being recorded for public viewing as well as having Public Comments, you should be able to withstand public discord with some of the Councils decisions. Human nature is to be called out sometimes. It is the what this Country is able to do. If you have thin skin or believe you are a better person than those addressing you, I would suggest not running at the next election for your chair.

  3. About a year ago I was having an early lunch at Panera and she was having coffee with John Hanson. I sat next to them and listened quite intently. Interesting conversation to say the least. Remember, this is a Renner appointee whose husband David was front and center in the campaign to change the ward system on the Bloomington City Council. Those of us who were opposed to their plan were labeled by David as “being terrified of democracy.” They’re friends of Rob Fazzini. Say no more. Lynn Fazzini, Rob’s wife and David Hauman are democrat precinct committee chairman. Fazzini wasn’t in favor of censoring Renner because it might hurt our bond rating. So these are tired lines that none of us are buying a bit of. This is straight out of Hillary’s playbook, demonize your opposition and pretend it’s bad for business. What’s bad for business is Hauman’s vote for a sales tax increase.

  4. Wow now that is something. For what it’s worth she should have written a letter to the fire starting paper editor.

Was this on the meeting agenda, a discussion about 1st amendment rights?

She’s entitled to her opinion but that was the wrong place to voice it in my opinion. The blow back to me is negative on her. If you can’t take the heat in the kitchen then leave.

Would she like to pre-edit public comments too?

I’d say people judge the city based on the services the city provides, taxes, road conditions, etc. before they would by listening to a city council meeting.

  5. I wouldn’t call Diane at all! Just send her RIGHT over to UPTOWN where she can snit and pick with ALL he other “Hoity Toity” Nose in the air wanna be’s! She’d fit right in, and we REALLY don’t need nor LIKE her kind her in OUR TOWN! IF she was ANYMORE of a back stabber I’d say call her BRUTUS! I think that may be a political term “pre presidential” Any member one the council who walks out during someone ELSES comment don’t deserve the time of day.
