Another 10 minute meeting with not much on the agenda.  None of these items will get discussed.

At the June 4th meeting $25,000 of Harmon Grants were approved – PDF page 27    http://www.normal.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2973

Monday night they are paying the grants, but the total is $26,500 – PDF pages 8 and 9:    http://www.normal.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2973

It looks like this one was added to the list:

Worthy cause, but how many votes did this garner using your money?

———————–

Travel, Meetings and Conferences

University of Wisconsin dues?  WIMG is Women in Municipal Government.  It was held in Atlanta GA, so the actual cost was much higher

Lots of partying!

—————————-

Think free entertainment is really free?

This is only ONE pay period

—————————-

Bike Trail spending:

Anybody ever check to see how many people use the paths?

—————————-

Normal REALLY wants the free Tiger grant money, they keep spending money to get it:

  1. Mark Peterson continues to bilk the city of Normal long after retirement. Where is M. Peterson Plaza located? Somewhere in Uptown I presume. Roth Stoneworks is in Congerville and it looks like they’re erecting a monument for Mark and the rest of his cronies on Council. $2,275! Pocket change for the Normal City Council. At least it’s less than the employee beach towels.

    1. This Peterson cult of personality worship is just a little strange… to say the least. Do we have a hive collective at the town of Normal? Will employees soon be gathering at Leader Perterson’s bronze statue to pay homage to him? Both of these towns are getting stranger by the day.

        1. I believe that their “world” is separate from the real world. How else could they think that it is a good idea to spend $20K of tax payer money on towels and jackets?

    1. True. People of reason and rational thinking – Dem, Rep, Ind, or whatever political stripe – have left or are leaving Bloomington. When the king gets too greedy and powerful, the villagers either storm the castle or flee. They’re doing the latter in Bloomington, Lawrence.

      1. The strategy of fleeing, think about this. Think about the effects of the bigger states with the most electorial votes. So fill it up with illegals and promise them free stuff all the while infrastructure and citizen rights are ignored. Turn those states into the blue wave and rule the rest of the country. What’s happened in small countries across the world of political upheaval and theft of resources was only a litmus test for the big enchilada, the U.S.A. And that ladies and gentlemen is unfortunately what we are seeing here today.

      2. I know it is hard to believe but we are already in the mist of a brain drain. Yes the high IQ rats are putting on life vests and leaving in speed boats. The writing is on the wall here and in Illinois… abandon ship… we are sinking fast. While Moe, Larry and Curly are working on pulling out stop lights and chalking up new bike paths for the .005 percent of the population that might some day use them.

    2. This is what “home rule” looks like. The Council can use tax dollars any way they wish on whatever they want. It does not have to be for the functioning of government.

      1. Where is Bruce Meeks when you need him? Bruce? How about getting another petition together to do away with home rule?

  2. Regarding bikes, the town planner once said publicly that about 1% of residents use the bike trails, according to their study. (Of course, this means its probably closer to 0.5%.)

    1. Sure, about 1% uses the bike trails on occasion while thousands use motorized vehicles multiple times per day. Town planners,,,like they know what the public wants, lol.

  3. We have a parks and rec dept but spent $800 on tent and table covers. How in the world does that fly? Is that company’s employees voting for Koos and Co?
