Fun topics at Public Comment last night

Public Comment was entertaining last night. The LGBTQIA2S+ community was well represented. It seems like they want the City to assign criminal penalties to anyone who hurt their feelings by misgendering them or refusing to affirm their lifestyle. Later the Council changed the Human Relations Policy to the State’s version except for a small change Mollie Ward wanted. Pronouns aren’t allowed. Don’t miss the lady at 52:00 saying 30% of students at IWU are LGBT….

Several speakers were upset the City closed the downtown tent city. Hear Surena Fish respond at 58:05. Forcing the tent dwellers to abandon the site has nothing to do with cruelty.

Gary Lambert is first, don’t miss Jackie Beyer at 42:08. Both spoke for you. Jackie detailed why the library didn’t need a property tax increase. Alderman Montney asked questions on the same topic at 1:55:50. The majority of the Council gave it to them anyway. Just hit play:

  1. I keep saying this. No one listens. Just like Joe has to go, so does Tim Gleason. Not only Gleason, but Chief of Piluce. Bloomington residents…wake up. If not, then deal with the BS.

  2. In San Francisco, when treating or even interacting with someone, first responders must say their pronouns and ask that person what their preferred pronouns are. So, a firefighter in the middle of a medical emergency asking “Sir, are you okay?!” is a no-no and can lead to disciplinary action, including termination. Think it can’t happen in Bloomington? It’s one or two spineless, caving politicians away from reality.
