Why are Rivians stored at State Farm?

Lots of people want to know why they aren’t being delivered!

Rivian stock is down 7.5% so far today.

9:30 am – down almost 10%. Deliveries were less than anticipated even though production was higher. High interest rates are blamed.

    1. SF is offsetting some costs of that facility by collecting rent from Rivian…per spot, per week…and getting Rivian to pay for the security.

  1. I am LMAO – I went by there the other day and I saw a bunch of cars in a lot that looked oddly in very neat rows. Who could have possibly guessed that this turkey would end up heading for Studebaker land? Oh yeah… right… I did from the beginning. But I was called “Mr. Negative” and a bunch of other not flattering names. I feel sorry for the workers…. I know what it is like to lose a high paying good job.

  2. EV’s have 2 strikes against them. Many people don’t like them I suspect due to less reliability and lack of infrastucture. Second they are high priced. Youtube video’s I have watched claim all new truck sales have dropped off on the high end. The next sales boom will be for lower priced smaller trucks and Toyota is positioned to lead the market in that segment. Our domestic truck makers have pretty much priced themselves out of the market. I suspect the low interest rate you see advertised in the fine print it states subject to your credit rating. Since the domestic economist terrorist in the WH took office he’s probably ruined many peoples credit rating.

    1. The ruined credit ratings are due to poor decision making not brandon. The “writing on the wall” was in bold print but people continued to rack-up debts.

  3. Range anxiety is certainly a factor, as well as sticker shock for a new “battery” or repair after a fender bender. These things are a nightmare.

    1. I watched a Youtube video where someone bent the drivers side rear fender of a Rivian truck just below the tail light. Evidently that whole side area as one stamped panel extends up above the side windows along the roof line. A body shop wanted $$$ (I want to say around $14K) to repair because they would have had to replace that whole side. A dent wizard worked on it and eventually got a majority of the dent out which was not easy seeing how they didn’t have much access to work with in that area to get to the outside area from behind. No tellling what he charged. Also another Youtube video showed how the tail gate was constructed and would capture debris from a load of dirt, gravel, etc. I haven’t seen any body repair video’s on a Tesla but I am sure there are some. Somehow these remind me of the DMC DeLorean with it’s stainless steel body. I can’t imagine how one would fix a dent in one of those.

  4. Can you imagine the environmental disaster that would ensue if one vehicle has a battery meltdown, potentially causing a domino effect?

    1. Yeah, ya can’t put out the fire with any conventional methods. Just let it burn out. One goes up in smoke, they all go to hell. Wonder is SF is insured for that mess? Hey who’s in charge of risk management over there?

  5. Since they aren’t in dealership lots I assume dealerships don’t want them. What a smorgasbord for car jackers.then again who would want one? Rows and rows of overpriced oversized paperweights. Over a thousand GM dealers refused EVs. This is exactly what is happening here.

  6. Well, we all saw what happened when Mitsubishi tried to make and sell EV’s. They even made this “great” national commercial right here in Normal. We see how that went.

  7. I feel for the security officers tasked with watching over the new car lot. I’m sure State Farm will more than happy to blame their outside contractor for any damge or theft.

  8. Last week, I was in the parking lot at Aldi on south Mercer and noticed a petrol pickup truck transporting a Rivian pickup truck on an auto hauler trailer. I’m guessing it was headed to the parking lot at SF Corp South. Now I’m wondering, did Rivian haul all of those EVs one at a time to Corp South parking lots? Why didn’t they use a Rivian pickup to transport the vehicle?

I haven’t really been paying attention to auto hauler semis lately, but I’m wondering if they can haul a full load of EVs without exceeding the weight limit? I know EVs weigh 2x or more than comparable sized ICE vehicles due to the weight of the batteries.

For anyone considering buying EV (or anyone wanting to hear lots of bad news about EVs), MGUY Australia has many short videos on YouTube with good information. Just search on “MGUY Australia” to find his channel.

  9. Better yet think about how they keep them charged in the winter time to move them around. The charge truck comes up here to FS Farmtown every other day to fill up with propane to keep the generator running that charges those environmentally friendly vehicles.
