The current County Board has 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans. A total of 9 members are not up for election until 2026 – 5 Democrats and 4 Republicans.
Since both cities are run by Democrats/Socialists, the County Board could look the same by the end of this year. Pritzker will again funnel money to Democrats to buy elections.
Below are the people who filed for the 2024 election – 2 Republicans will be on the March Primary ballot, no Democrats are being contested. Republicans will automatically win District 1 because a Democrat isn’t running. Democrats automatically win District 6 because a Republican isn’t running.
Jim Soeldner (2) and Chuck Erickson (10), both Republicans are not running for re-election. Democrat Jack Abraham (6) is also not running.

It’s Sad that the Republican Party couldn’t find anyone in District 6 to run. Giving away a district for free with zero Republican candidates is hard to believe. I didn’t see any public notifications or searches for candidates by the Party. Symptom.
Chuck Erickson’s long time so-called leadership of the Republicans in McLean County has been a disaster. And utter unmitigated total disaster. It’s a symptom of the establishment GOP in Illinois. Hate Trump, afraid of their own Shadows, almost ashamed to say they’re conservatives. True constitutional conservatives afraid to articulate and execute true conservatism and to promote it in the court of public opinion.
It’s been very disappointing watching inept leadership for so long. And the current GOP leadership might even be worse. And they wonder why they don’t have a lot of candidates in a whole lot of vacant Precinct committeemen.
Chuck made sure the County didn’t fleece taxpayers. I don’t call that failed leadership.
Nah , John you’re wrong. Connie Beard is who sank the GOP locally.
Connie Beard and her wing nut friends like David Paul Perpetual Loser Bluminshine ran off most any rational conservatives from being involved.
What’s left of the formal GOP party structure locally is only Darren Bailey bitter enders and assorted nobodys that nobody knows.
When Chuck Erickson was party chairman the county board was 14-6 republican and they had money in the bank.
Now , broke unemployed people ,geezers and wing nuts are all the mclean county GOP has left – and even they fight amongst themselves and lack the the political skills to win anything.
These same wig nuts pin their 2024 hopes on Dan Culkins (who ? ) and his sugar mommy ADM heiress from Decatur hoping for some crumbs.
Chuck Erickson is among the last of the educated, rational conservatives with public service experience and a proven conservative voting record left locally.
There ARE some sharp conservative elected public officials , but they win their elections independently using their own organizations /connections without any help from the local GOP.

And you wonder why the Repub establishment of the really smart people lose elections and have zero support.
But you’re the smartest person in the room while making my point about Chuck.
And this is why I donate to true conservative candidates, not the McLean Co. GOP. And you they won’t get my time or talents either.
Give the whole IL GOP leadership an enema. Stallworth’s thinking might have been valid in the 1970s or 80s, but back then the Dems were communist radicals.
John obviously is a RHINO and should stick to simping for his soybean heiress. He makes about as much sense as the common sense mclean county PAC or that 8×10 picture of Mitt Romney he keeps on his night stand.
